1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Free Patterns on: January 04, 2013 08:36:55 AM
I was browsing Joanns website and found a link for free lionsbrand patterns.  I'm not sure if people already know about it but I thought I would share because there are so many on the site.

2  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / The white elephant was evil this year. on: December 28, 2012 09:25:11 AM
My mother received these in a white elephant exchange.  I feel bad, she was kinda disappointed because she felt she was stuck with the worst, even though that's kinda the fun of it.  But anyways... The only thing that I can think of to do with these is save them deep in the closet for next years exchange.  What can I do with these to make them decent?

They actually photograph better than they look in person... Who'd of guessed?  But the vase is about 6 in (including flowers) and the pillow is 8 in.
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Dino party on: December 20, 2012 10:14:17 AM
Here are some of the things I made for my son's 5th birthday party.

I made a hot lava rock to play hot potato with.  Made from glued together pieces of syrofoam that i shaped with a knife (great for getting out any aggression) and painted.  I don't have a picture of the final product.  Sorry!

The party hats inspired by hats I saw online (can't remember the site I saw them on).  Bought poster board at the 99cent store and used elastic string.

I made a papier mache volcano from an old lamp shade and did the old science class formula of baking soda and vinegar.

I cut feet shapes out of colored craft foam for them to wear and let the "dino stomp" on a sheet of bubble wrap.  Bad picture.

Pin the tail on the dino.  I can't take credit for this lovely dinosaur, my brother made this one for me.

The cake tasted horrible but it looked awesome.  It was way overcooked and frosting from a can.  Oh well, kids don't care.

I also papier mache eggs from water balloons and buried dog bones in the sand box for an excavation site.  I have no pictures of these.

Thanks for looking, I hope this helps inspire a dino party of your own.  I'll try to find some of the sites that inspired me.
4  COOKING / Dessert / Diabetic non-grain dessert? on: December 10, 2012 07:57:49 PM
My friend recently found out he is diabetic and by cutting grains completely from his diet has improved drastically.  Yay!  But my dilemma is that I was going to make him cookies, but shouldn't now.  Any ideas?  Oh, and I also need to make them by Wednesday night.  Help please!
5  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / Dino socks on: December 05, 2012 08:16:51 AM
I hope I'm in the appropriate spot... I'm still new at this.   Undecided  Sorry if I'm not.

So, I really want to make these as favors for my sons birthday party,  http://www.happytogethercreates.com/2011/12/stegosaurus-socks-diy.html but I can not find anything cute and appropriate for boys.  I have found a few socks that might work but at $10 a pair for soccer socks, I don't think so!  Does anyone know where I could look for knee highs for 5 year old boys?
