1  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: The white elephant was evil this year. on: January 04, 2013 08:58:50 AM
Thank you all for your ideas.  I ripped the flowers out of the vase but just can't envision putting something in it.  It will be added to the "to be crafted bucket".  As for the pillow...  I'm  seriously considering lighting it on fire, the more I look at it the more I hate it.  But I think I'll save the ozone from the horrors and just throw it in the get rid of pile in the corner.  Sorry to those who actually had decent ideas, but I just can't do it!  If I ever figure out the vase, it will be definitely be here.

I was browsing Joanns website and found a link for free lionsbrand patterns.  I'm not sure if people already know about it but I thought I would share because there are so many on the site.

My mother received these in a white elephant exchange.  I feel bad, she was kinda disappointed because she felt she was stuck with the worst, even though that's kinda the fun of it.  But anyways... The only thing that I can think of to do with these is save them deep in the closet for next years exchange.  What can I do with these to make them decent?

They actually photograph better than they look in person... Who'd of guessed?  But the vase is about 6 in (including flowers) and the pillow is 8 in.
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: Dino party on: December 20, 2012 10:37:38 AM
Haha!  You caught me.  On the cake there are chocolate covered raisins that are suppose to look like rocks, I thought about calling them droppings though.
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Dino party on: December 20, 2012 10:14:17 AM
Here are some of the things I made for my son's 5th birthday party.

I made a hot lava rock to play hot potato with.  Made from glued together pieces of syrofoam that i shaped with a knife (great for getting out any aggression) and painted.  I don't have a picture of the final product.  Sorry!

The party hats inspired by hats I saw online (can't remember the site I saw them on).  Bought poster board at the 99cent store and used elastic string.

I made a papier mache volcano from an old lamp shade and did the old science class formula of baking soda and vinegar.

I cut feet shapes out of colored craft foam for them to wear and let the "dino stomp" on a sheet of bubble wrap.  Bad picture.

Pin the tail on the dino.  I can't take credit for this lovely dinosaur, my brother made this one for me.

The cake tasted horrible but it looked awesome.  It was way overcooked and frosting from a can.  Oh well, kids don't care.

I also papier mache eggs from water balloons and buried dog bones in the sand box for an excavation site.  I have no pictures of these.

Thanks for looking, I hope this helps inspire a dino party of your own.  I'll try to find some of the sites that inspired me.

I think I like this one even more than the first.  Just so cute.

Where did you find that fabric?  That is fantastic.  I know just who I want to make one for.

That is so cute!  I now know what I should do with all my old lego people.
