41  Re: Chunky Houses Halloween Edition Gallery!!! in The Swap Gallery by irid3sc3nt on: October 06, 2010 09:45:52 PM
Two more houses I made have been received.

This one was for audio-astrophysics.

I found an image of a forest and tweaked it in Photoshop to make it appear bleak.  I saw that a lot of audio-astrophysics wists had birds or human bodies with bird heads so that was my inspiration for this.  The outfit is from the 1880s to 1890s and the head I hand-drew.  The human head of the small bird-creature was drawn by Edward Gorey.  I used orange foil that has something to do with baking (not quite sure what) to make the bars of the cage.  Yes, the shape is supposed to be a cage.

This one was for szuzu1969.

My inspiration for this is one of my favorite poems by Shel Silverstein.  The shape is fashioned after a bat box or bat home.  I used an image of a baby vampire bat.  I looked through SO MANY bat images to find one that would convey cuteness and also have the mouth open.  The other bats were drawn by Edward Gorey.

Here is my package from celticgoddess that I received earlier in the week.  I was thinking my husband took the camera with him over the weekend, but he didn't so I uploaded today.

Here is the box opened up.  My cat, Caliope, thinks it is relevant to her interests.

A closeup of the spider sticker on her note.

Chocolate!  I'm waiting to try this with my husband.  There's a great ice-cream store in Santa Fe that sells Mayan Chocolate ice-cream.  It's tasty and my husband and I like it, so I'm sure we'll like this, too.

Halloween stamps!  I have lots of stamps, but I don't have these ones.

A skull keychain.

Resin pendants

Resin magnets.  They stack neatly together but when setting them out, they chased each other around the table.  Silly magnetism.

Halloween candy bag with a poem

Spooky graveyard painting.  She put red felt on the back of it so it'll sit nicely against the wall.

Part of the 'Happy Halloween' banner.

The other part of the 'Happy Halloween' banner.

Kitty from my wist!  I hear he was hard to part with.

His grin makes me laugh Grin

Thank you, celticgoddess!  Oh, lol, I see you just posted a photo of the cat while I was typing this, heheheh.  I'd like to say I have sent your package already, but I will probably be crafting up til the last day.

Prepare for wisting, here is what seamaiden75 sent to me!  I didn't get photos of it all wrapped up nice with ribbons and tissue.  I just kinda tore into it  Embarrassed

Super cute card

Actual vintage black cat diecut!!!  I'm really careful about it.

Pumpkin scrubby

Jack-o-Lantern magnetic notepad

Candy corn tin which held some of the next items...

... felt pins!  and a matching pinkeep! (The stitching is great!)

Homemade orange-cream fudge in a cute ghostie box.  She even sent the recipe!

A candy corn afghan in great colors and the shape reminds me of a spiderweb.  It's not a rug, I just had to spread it out on the floor to take the photo.

Seamaiden75 super-spoiled me; I hope she likes the package I sent to her as much as I like mine!  Thank youuuuuu! Kiss

I took some photos before I sent, so here is what I sent out to puffy:

It's a Day of the Dead sugar skull barrette.

I received from puffy the other day and here he is!

She used my theme "black cats in top hats" and made this adorable black cat, who is soft and filled with... beans?.... with a bendable tail, donning a white button-filled top hat.  The front feels like a fleece and the back is a cotton, I think, that's orange and has black bats on it!

Here he is looking out the window at our continuous snow fall (well, the snow falling on the tree outside).

What I like about him is that he's not all one fabric, he has the surprise backside, and while puffy could have left his hat strictly felt, she added all those buttons.  The choice of colors for his face is great.  I have a fondness for die-cuts and some of the more "modern" ones curiously include a neon green color like what you see in the pupils and whiskers.

Thank you, puffy, he will watch over the goings-on here, just like my real life kitty.  Cheesy

46  Re: Halloween altoids tin swap GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by irid3sc3nt on: October 11, 2009 10:41:54 PM
I received from QueenNinjaMonkey!  It took me a little bit to get the pictures organized.

Here is the actual tin.  It has legs!  It reminds me of a hearse, in a way..um  dunno why.  Probably the little bobbles.  Check out the awesome interior!  I love the little design!

Here's what came inside the tin: a haunted house ribbon necklace with substantial red beads, vintage-esque black cat earrings (which I wore to work that night), a teeny tiny fly charm that is perfect because it reminds me of a song on my halloween mix music called "Human Fly" by Nouvelle Vague, a wicked green witch charm, a plastic yellow bat ring (i'm a fan of tiny plastic things) and some toblerone (how did you know???), a pile of bones n skulls, some supercute stickers that look like buttons, paper animals/monster/arm, and some rad halloween-themed bandages.

Thank you, QueenNinjaMonkey, you must have picked my brain while I slept or something. Cheesy

It was such a lovely day out, a cool 48 degrees, that I walked to the P.O. to drop off some boxes and on the way back checked my mail at the office.  I had received TWO boxes from Banga!

They were labeled Box 1 and Box 2 so I started with box 1.  It had pumpkin-colored tissue paper and shiny little witches/j.o.l.s/ghosts inside as well as...

a tall tin!  It has vintage Halloween images wrapped around it with little bobble ribbon around the lide and sports silver letters that spell "F-R-I-G-H-T"

Inside the tin were...

two jars of dessert sauces!  They are Raspberry Dessert Sauce and Ginger-Peach Dessert Sauce labeled Bed-Bug Poison and Deadly Nightshade, repectively.  I even have yummy recipes to include these with AND they were made from the local famer's market produce.

Also inside Box 1 were...

decorated cards!  They remind me of ATCs except that they actually open up in card-form and have their own envelopes for mailing.  With these, I'm quite selfish, so I think I'll be finding some matching frames and hanging them together on the wall.

Here is the card that Banga used to introduce her items to me.  I agree with her that the zombie/golem pumpkins are creepy.

Now for Box 2...

a Halloween wreath!  I had opened the box and it was still mostly covered by tissue paper and I'm telling you, I squealed and said "No way!"  It's pretty awesome.  The spider web in the center is great--it's detachable, but that's not happening.
Check out the little grinning spider!  Isn't he the cutest?!

Thank you, Banga, for the swap package and being my Vintage Halloween partner! Grin

My kitty thanks you, too, for the fun tissue paper.

My package from DanniQuee arrived today!  Somehow the mailperson squished it into my tiny mailspace.  No harm done, it just looked like I had a crazy amount of mail.

She had wrapped up both items so I couldn't see them right away when I pulled them out of the package.  I read the note then unwrapped...

A Frightened Kitty!
She's so cute and soft and will fit right in.  I LOVE the tiny dress she's wearing.  I have a Halloween pin from when I was little that will look really cute attached to her dress.

Inside a tiny wrapped package with a tiny orange ribbon bow was...

Pumpkin Earrings!
I had taken an action shot, but I'm between hair dyes right now so it wasn't very attractive.  They're made of polymer clay with green seed beads for leaves.  They're a great fall earring and not just for Halloween.
I have a thing for earrings.

Thank you, DanniQuee, it's been an awesome swap!

Here's a fun picture of my cat in the tissue.  She's all tired out.

Here's what diablita sent to me!  I took action shots.  She wrapped everything in orange tissue paper with fun ribbon, it was really pretty when I opened the box.  She's really great at sewing and sent me some awesome stuff!

A table runner.  I had actually planned it to go on the coffee table so I had given her measurements for that, but in the evening I was away and my parents set everything around the apt (they visited me for a week).  I think it looks lovely on the table.  The fabric is my favorite and I had actually bought a large amount of it a couple years earlier and I've been planning on making a small wallhanging out of it.  Now it will all match!  Notice the little tassles--eee!!!

Check out this little candy tube!  It has candy-corn on the inside of it, but I really can't open it, it's so pretty.

This was the biggest wrapped item and was so squishably soft I wasn't sure what it was, but when I opened the tissue, there was this big pumpkin!  It really is quite big and stuffed full of stuffing.  The fabric is all patterned, which is neat, and I like it that she used the lime green around the eyes.  It really makes them stand out.  The little posey on the hat band has a little button on it with an even smaller pumpkin on that!

Lastly, here is an amazing pillow.  The black patterned fabric is the same as the hat for the pumpkin and it has these lush tassles running all around it (I like tassles).  The center is a transfer of a vintage Halloween postcard.  I love the rhymes on the old postcards.  She sewed a sequined braid around the image.  It's really very pretty and though it's seen on the couch here, it's actually sitting on the back (top?) of the couch leaning against the wall because I don't want anyone using it Grin

Diablita, thank you for the excellent Halloween-y decorations.   Kiss Kiss Kiss Your sewing skills are awesome!  I hope you will enjoy what I sent to you!
