Details of Swap:
In this swap, participants will be put into groups of 3. You may join up to 2 groups.  Participants will make and send out one house to each person in the group.

Houses should measure between 3" to 4" wide and no taller than 7". Decorate them front and back with emphasis on embellishment.  Please sign the back with your name or craftster handle and date.  You want everyone to remember that great little house you made.

Please use a base material such as paperboard, matboard, wood, layered cardstock or foam core. It needs to stand without flopping over so you can have a whole chunky neighborhood.

Since this is a paper craft swap, DC numbers and mailing receipt copies are not required.  HOWEVER, if for some reason your chunky house does not arrive at its destination you will be required to re-send.

Please send your house in a small padded envelope or sandwiched between cardboard.  Write "DO NOT BEND" on both sides of your package. We want that artwork that you spent so much time creating to get to its new home in good shape.

Communication is important.  Failure to communicate will be reflected in your feedback.
It is your responsibility to:
-PM all of your partners and the organizer as soon as you have sent
-PM all of your partners and the organizer as soon as you have received
-post in this thread!
-post photos of your received chunky houses in the gallery (unless you have agreed with your partners to have them post)

Details of swap:
OTT (One Tiny Thing) swaps are based on the idea that you'll be crafting, literally, one tiny item. Tiny refers to the actual size of the item but even though it's small, it should be an item that is crafted with a high level of skill. If it's a simple/easy item for you to craft, try to embellish or perfect it to best represent your skills.

In this swap, participants will have one partner.  Each partner will make and send out one tiny thing (see below for ideas on what constitutes as a tiny item) based on your five themes.  For example, if one of your themes is orange, your partner could make fancy orange earrings or a tiny orange ornament.  The tiny thing should fit within four square inches. If you need a couple inches wiggle room, that is okay.  This is a NO-EXTRAs swap. You can only send the item you craft and NOTHING else. If you do send extras, it will be noted in your feedback. This swap is intended to be low-stress.

After you have been approved, you are welcome to post your five themes in this thread. If you see someone's theme list and would like to craft for them, please feel free to PM me and let me know.  I cannot guarantee that you will be partnered with that person BUT I will absolutely take it into consideration during the pairing up.

To celebrate October, the OVERALL theme of this swap will be the celebrations in October [Halloween, Samhain, Day of the Dead (even though it is Nov 2nd), Oktoberfest, Autumn in general, etc.]! Your five themes should be related to these.

Communication is important.  Failure to communicate will be reflected in your feedback.
It is your responsibility to:
-PM your partner and the organizer as soon as you have sent
-PM your partner and the organizer as soon as you have received
-post in this thread at least once
-take a photo of your item before you send (so you can post in the gallery if your partner can't)

Is your item tiny?
4" tall stuffie  = tiny  Smiley
14" tall stuffie = Not tiny
small change purse  = tiny  Smiley
      clutch purse    = Not tiny

Bottom line:    4"x4" dimensions
If the item "naturally" comes in a pair or a set (ie: earrings or stitch markers), that is okay.
If you aren't sure if your idea is considered "tiny", please ask!

16  Re: Vintage Halloween Swap 2014 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by irid3sc3nt on: November 13, 2014 08:28:00 AM
Whew, international packages have finally arrived!

Here are the vintage-y items I received from whenindoubtsew.  My apologies for the lighting.  It has been snowing here for days, so if you have better pictures please share them.

Also, there was chocolate somewhere in here... Roll Eyes

Here is my new JOL!  I think of the black and white ribbon as legs--they're posable!  He has the goofiest face... I love it.  Great color choice of fabric.  He has little black pipecleaner vines and a black ribbon loop so he can be hung.  Hanging or sitting, he looks good either way. He was wrapped in candy corn fabric... yus, the perfect way to wrap (wish I had thought of that).

Here is my new banner/bunting!  Wow, it's made out of a variety of fabrics including burlap.  Each image from my Pinterest is embroidered---wow, wow, wow.  And there are lovely Halloween poems on a second piece of fabric sewed at the top to the..um.. behind piece.  I'm a lover of these, mostly found on vintage postcards.  Contemporary Halloween isn't nearly (hardly) as eloquent.  Oh, you must know me well Wink

Closeup of the snowman/pumpkin/jol/witch... I know this is in my Pinterest somewhere.  Now I know what it's like to slog through all those Halloween boards.

Closeup of the hissing cat and tiny skull bat from a gallery poster

Closeup of the owl and the witch-cat from a vintage postcard

Closeup of the arched black cat with ghosts and Trick or Treat pumpkin.  Hmm.. I can't seem to find who originally created this.
Closeup of the jol with lantern image originally created by Rhode Montijo

Hanging.  Not actually where I would put it.

Again, I apologize for the ghastly photos.

Thank you, whenindoubtsew, for my wonderful creations and also thank you, kittykill, for hosting this amazing swap again.

Finally!  I now have pictures of the house hazelly sent me.

The button pumpkin is so cute.  Also, the cobweb and cat are stamps--oh, man, I love rubber stamps.  Where did you find them, hazelly?

Thank you!

Last two houses:

Here is my house from goatgoddess.  She used a sign from my Pinterest that I hope to one day craft.  Oh, lol, I just noticed the tendrils at the bottom!  They look like creeping tentacles.

Here is my house from P_E_S_T.  I has a moon that you can see when there is light in the background.  The house is based on a poem she created.

Thank you ladies!

Here are two of the lovely houses I received.

Here is the house blupaisan sent.  It's made out of leather (pleather?) in my favorite Halloween colors: dark orange and black.  I'm particularly fond of how the spider is guarding the house.

Some of the windows had fallen off in transit, so I reglued them back on.

Here is the house rockingbearranch sent.  It is a Victorian Halloween house.  See the little tree?  It came with soft, soft, soft angora fur.  My kitty was interested in it, but I grabbed it before she could start grooming it.

Thank you ladies!!
