82  Little Pyramid Head in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by FreakieGeekie on: June 26, 2014 07:09:16 PM
One of my lovely friends over on DeviantArt was kind enough to send me the Hunger Games series because she had an extra set. I figured that it was only fair that I make something for her in return. Instead, she asked that I make something for her son: a Pyramid Head. So I dug around in my stash and found colors as close to PH's as possible and this is what I got:

Little PH stands on his own but only if he's holding his Great Knife because of his head. There are pipe cleaners in his fingers so that he can hold his Great Knife. However, his fingers aren't quite long enough for a good grip so I'm going to go back and add a strap to the sword handle so that it won't slip from his grasp.
I made him from my own pattern and his hands were a struggle. My sister found a tutorial for crocheting fingers on amigurumitogo.com after I finished. Tongue

This little guy is LONG overdue so sometime soon he will be packed up and shipped off to his new home.

Project Name: Vinnie the Amazon

I'm a huge fan of the online comic "Skins" by LJ Phillips on deviantArt (no direct link because some of the contents are NSFW). I really love these comics because they offer a new spin on werewolves, vampires, and other supernatural beings. And the creator/writer/artist, loves interacting with her fans, encouraging us to create AU fanart and fanfictions, which she loves viewing/reading. One of my favorite characters is Vinnie, a big, rough-looking Skin (werewolf) who is fiercely loyal to and protective of his friends and family. LJ recently drew her own AU versions of two of her characters in which they were the opposite gender. So I drew AU Vinnie, who LJ agreed would be a tall, statuesque Amazon if he were a female. She's in a bathing suit because it's summer and I felt like drawing something summery.

Our team badge comes from here

Fandom, after all, is born of a balance between fascination and frustration: if media content didn't fascinate us, there would be no desire to engage with it; but if it didn't frustrate us on some level, there would be no drive to rewrite or remake it.

Hello, hello! If you're a lover of fanfics, cons, midnight releases/openings, and other such super nerdy goodness, this is the team for you! 85  Monster High Custom- Daryl Dixon in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by FreakieGeekie on: May 01, 2014 02:21:34 PM
I was so happy when I saw this challenge! Cheesy I love Pinterest so much but I spend hours pinning things and hardly ever make anything from the pins that inspire me Tongue
But that changed when I found myself wanting a Daryl figure.
I can't find one locally because the only place that carries them is GameStop and the employees have confessed that they never let the Daryl figures hit the shelves, taking them all for themselves.  Angry
And the ones I find online are out of my price range. So I decided that I would just make my own using a Monster High Deuce Gorgon Grin
This doll started his life as a "Scaris" Deuce Gorgon.
I removed his "snake-hawk" and molded hair, his face-up, and the tattooing on his left arm.
His hair is made from a long pile faux fur, his shirt is a poly-cotton remnant, and his jeans are a denim remnant. His vest started its life as a Liv doll's leather jacket and the wings on the back are made of iron on fabric and were hand-drawn then outlined in Sharpie. His clothes are all hand-sewn and the worn look on his jeans was achieved by rubbing them down with coarse sandpaper.
His crossbow is made of a wooden dowel, plastic canvas covered with yarn, hemp cord, a piece of bamboo skewer, and a bit of cardboard; the wooden and cardboard bits are painted with black acrylic paint. His bolts are made from slivers of plastic canvas and little bits of felt.
His face was painted using watercolors then sealed. His eyes came out bigger than I wanted them to but I didn't have a small enough brush and my hands aren't all that steady. In other words, I need to practice painting doll faces more. Embarrassed
His motorcycle was a gift from my sister. It's from the Bratz Boyz "Motorcycle Style" Cade doll. I simply repainted it so that it would look like Daryl's motorcycle. The crossbow is just propped on the motorcycle because I couldn't get the wire to look neat.
My Pinspirations

Edit: forget the shine in his eyes! Added a pic with the changes. He's sitting next to Deuce for reference.

Edit2: Daryl is getting a repaint. Here's the progress so far:

Kwality, that monster family portrait is so freaking cute! <3

*bounces* Guess who got her package today! Grin

Smiley made me some awesome zombie ear charms and a hoopla with my favorite Madgod, Sheogorath. Yes, that says "Clouds don't smell. They taste of butter and tears."

A zombie hunter shirt! <3 For some reason, I'm upside down. Please turn your heads upside-down to enjoy the view! *giggles*

She crocheted me some socks. KNEE SOCKS! <3 <3 My favorite kind of socks.

And last, but certainly not least:

It's a Daryl Dixon/Norman Reedus purse! *squeals* I would have been happy just to receive this awesome purse. I'll have to take a pic of the inside. The inner pocket has a Native American blanket print (not sure of the proper term) on it like Daryl's poncho. <3

Oh and there was chocolate Moonpies, the only ones I like, Jolly Ranchers, and Sour Gummi Lifesavers. I hid them away. Thanks for everything Melody! <3 You're awesome! Grin

I found another page that had a guide on how to assemble the granny squares into a purse but I can't find the link Huh It's made of 13 squares that are composed of Red Heart Super Saver in amethyst and real teal. The lining is a remnant of unknown fabric from my stash.

So many cute things Cheesy I am in love with the things bunny1kenobi has posted.

Dropping by to post up photos of the items I sent to smileyyogini Cheesy

This awesome bracelet was crocheted with an H hook and Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Blacklight.

It's a moogle! Cheesy I saw one on her Pinterest and just had to make one for her since I know how much she loves them Grin

Another Pinterest inspired item. I made it using Red Heart Super Saver yarn in amethyst and real teal. It's lined with an unknown remnant from my craft stash. Can't have anything trying to slide through the holes in the granny squares!

I made this cute little guy for smileyyogini (don't peek, smileyyogini!) as a part of her IYP Swap package. I used an H hook with Green Oak acrylic yarn in off-white and Red Heart Super Saver yarn in black, amethyst and cherry red. The pink is an unknown yarn I got from Goodwill.

Challenge: March- Friendship is Magic
Team: Multimedia
Project Name: Blacklight Bracelet
Project Page Link: Pending
Another item made for the IYP Swap. I used an H hook and Red Heart Super Saver in blacklight. The button is one I swiped from my mom's stash. I more or less made up the pattern as I went along but I think it looks good.

Challenge: April- You're the best around
Team: Multimedia
Project Name: Granny square tote
Project Page Link: Pending
Another item made for the IYP Swap. I used an H hook and Red Heart Super Saver in amethyst and real teal. The lining is made of an unknown remnant from my stash. Though I'm hardly a goddess with a hook, I certainly can hook some amazing stuff when I'm motivated and inspired. I saw a cute granny square tote on smileyyogini's Pinterest and just had to make her one. I can't find the link to the tutorial I used but it's composed of 13 squares.

90  Wee bit of Irish luck *with pattern* in Crochet: Completed Projects by FreakieGeekie on: March 16, 2014 04:17:36 AM
Since tomorrow is St. Paddy's Day, I decided I needed to crochet up some luck for myself Cheesy

This is actually the second one I crocheted. The first I sewed onto a hairclip for my sister:

For anyone who's interested, here's the pattern I wrote:
Make a magic ring, ch 1 then sc four times in the ring
sl st to join first st
Triple crochet twice in next st, chain 3, sl st into same st
repeat for next 3 sts, sl st in first st on beg tc, ch 4, f/o weave in ends

Sorry if you can't follow it! I've never tried to write a pattern for others to follow so it may not make sense.
There may be small gaps in the clover but you can close those from the back using the tail of yarn from the center of the ring.
