31  Nerdy Hats in Crochet: Completed Projects by FreakieGeekie on: March 01, 2016 08:44:28 AM
This set of R2-D2 hats were made for my fiance's nephews. These were 99% finished in December: the hats just needed the little details sewn on.

These were made using this Star Wars Droid Beanies pattern I found on Ravelry.

I made the Deadpool hat for myself to wear on Valentine's Day when my fiance and I went to see the Deadpool movie. But the weather was warmer than previously predicted so the hat stayed home. It's simply my basic beanie pattern with an applique of Deadpool's logo sewn on it.
The red Mario hat I made for my cousin's son, who adores the Mario games. It was made using a pattern for a lady's newsboy cap. I noticed that many who had made the hat using the same weight yarn, same hook, and matched the gauge had said it was much too small, even for a woman with a smaller head so I knew it would be the perfect size for him Smiley
The Pokeball hat was made using my own pattern with color changes and a sewn on release button applique.

I've been away for a while because the cushioning in my chair is wearing thin so it's NOT comfortable to me right now Tongue
But I have been making crafts and here they are:

(made a couple of these in December but most of them were made in January)

33  Snuggly baby things in Crochet: Completed Projects by FreakieGeekie on: January 17, 2016 07:14:43 PM
I'm pregnant with my first sprog and since he's due at the end of March, which is sometimes still chilly, I crocheted up a cocoon, booties, and beanie for him Smiley

The cocoon was made using this pattern from Red Heart, the booties are from this pattern from Crochet Hooks You, and the hat was made from my own pattern, which involved some trial and error.
I know it looks a bit weird that there's no white on the hat or booties but the cocoon was supposed to have a fuzzy trim on it and I didn't have fuzzy yarn (I hate that stuff).

Yarns used:
Loops and Threads Charisma in Aqua (the label says it's Aqua but it doesn't look the slightest bit green; the blanket pictured on the label called for Aqua and it looks more green)
Red Heart Super Saver in White

Prompt: January- Three Billy Goats Gruff

Bonus Points: UFO
Project Name: Snuggly baby things
I made this set of three baby things for my little sprog, who's due at the end of March. The cocoon was made using this pattern from Red Heart, the booties are from this pattern from Crochet Hooks You, and the hat was made from my own pattern, which involved some trial and error. I sort of used three skeins for this: two skeins of Loops and Threads Charisma Baby in Aqua (though it looks more blue to me) and the remnants of a skein of white.

I've made two things so far this year and am working on a third project!

For my boyfriend's best friend, a hat in LSU's colors:

I'll probably make a few more hats to go along in a post with this before giving it a thread. I'd feel silly putting one hat in its own thread Tongue
Yarns used:
Caron Pound of Yarn in Deep Purple
Red Heart Super Saver in Gold

A car seat blanket for my little sprog-to-be:

It measures 24"x30", which is just a bit bigger than the measurements I found for a car seat blanket but that's okay with me Smiley The next blanket I'll be making will be a crib blanket for when he's older. I'll probably start on it soon and work on it throughout the year Smiley
Yarn used:
Loops and Threads Charisma Baby in Toy Train

Prompt: December - Sock Monkey
Team: Fandom
Project Name: Chad's hat
Project Link: Here
Sock monkeys are very soft and, traditionally, they're a lovely shade of charcoal grey, much like the yarn I used for this hat. I had made it just for something to keep my hands busy while we were visiting his grandparents in Arizona over the holidays and my fiance decided he wanted it.

Prompt: December - Rubik's Cube

Project Name: Colorful hats

The stickers on a Rubik's Cube are brightly colored, much like these hats. Smiley

7 of these 9 hats were crocheted while my fiance and I were visiting his grandparents in Arizona.

39  So many hats in Crochet: Completed Projects by FreakieGeekie on: December 30, 2015 08:19:39 PM
Most of these hats were made while my fiance and I were visiting his grandparents in Arizona for the week of Christmas. The only ones that weren't are the purple one and the reddish orange one. The purple one is mine, the grey one is my fiance's, the reddish orange one is my dad's and the others were just made for the heck of it Tongue

Yarns used (from l to r starting with the first photo):
Red Heart Super Saver in Red Hot
Red Heart Super Saver in Claret
Red Heart Super Saver in Skipper Blue
Red Heart Super Saver in Cherry Red
Caron Pound of Yarn in Deep Purple
Red Heart Super Saver in Skipper Blue
Lion Brand Heartland in Great Smoky Mountain

Expect more hats from me throughout the next year: I'm going to attempt to set up a table at a street fair in my hometown and hats are pretty popular.

40  Re: What's your OBSESSION Swap GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by FreakieGeekie on: December 29, 2015 09:36:38 PM
First is Nana from Orange Caramel dressed as Red Riding Hood. It's from their video Catallena, which was one of nowheresound's favorites. I didn't realize til now that I forgot to make her a white apron Roll Eyes

Next we have a tote with "I'm the genie of the toaster!" which was from the show Big Fat Quiz of the Year. I'm tempted to make myself one like this because it's cute and silly.

Third was a small cross-stitch. It was a facial outline with a defined mane of hair like Nick Grimshaw's with "The Quiff" stitched beneath it. Sadly, I didn't get a pic of it. Sad

PS, sorry it took so long! I had a LOT of pics to go thru because I went photo crazy while on a week-long stay in Arizona.
