Holiday Recipe Challenge: Grandma's Gingerbread Cookies
House:  Slytherin
Brief Description: I remember making gingerbread cookies with my grandma as a kid. She would make fudge and watch me cut out the cookies because I always wanted to help with the fudge but I was too little.

6 c. all purpose flour
1 tbsp ground ginger
1tbsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp baking powder
1 c. shortening
1 c. molasses
1 c. tightly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. water
1 egg

Sit together cinnamon, baking powder, ginger, and flour in a large mixing bowl. In another large bowl mix together shortening, molasses, water, egg, and brown sugar until smooth. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Roll out the dough (on wax paper or clean countertop). Cut out shapes using your favorite cookie cutters. Place cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. When cool the cookies can be frosted with a favorite icing. Add sprinkles if you like.

124  The Golden Snitch in Crochet: Completed Projects by FreakieGeekie on: December 20, 2012 11:03:53 PM
I wanted to practice stitching in the round so for the Alchemy class challenge at the HPC I made a Snitch.
It's roughly the size of a walnut, as the Snitch is described in the first book, but all I had was pastel yellow so it's the wrong color. Its wings are made of white felt.
Please, no one ask me for a pattern because I was winging it and this was the first time I ever stitched in the round!

Class: Alchemy
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Practice Snitch
Project Page Link:
Brief Description: Since I tried out for Seeker I decided that I needed a Snitch to chase about for practice if I have any hopes of making the team. White wings for Albedo, yellow body for Citrinitas.

Sadly the only yellow I had was an ugly pastel yellow (I hate pastels!) I got from a yarn lot at Goodwill but I used what I had on hand.

Challenge: Quidditch tryouts, Seeker/House Unity
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Redhot Potholder
Brief Description: Crocheted potholder for my mom to replace one I had crocheted years ago that has since been lost. It's also to replace one of her old, dingy ones. This one is made better than the old one because my skills have improved.

My mom likes red, especially bright red, so I used some Lion Brand Hometown USA in Cincinnati Red Gryffindor Red to make this. While crocheting this I learned that this type of yarn is hard to work with an H/8 hook. When I get a proper hook, according to the label it's an N/13, I'll be making more of these for her.

Challenge: Detention in the Dungeons
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Tasty gifts
Brief Description: Tomorrow is my work's Christmas party and I decided that everyone will be getting turtles from me. Yes, I waited to nearly last minute, as always.

Don't they look so tasty? :d
I made some of these last year but they did NOT look as good nor did they taste half as good. My dad and I shared one after I took this picture. If anyone would like the recipe, it's here

Class: Charms
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Slytherin scarf for Snuggly Snape
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: Scarf crocheted in Slytherin's colors for the Snape plush I'm making for my DADA OWL.
Project Picture:

When cold weather sets in, it gets really slow at the convenience store where I work. Since I don't want my Snuggly Snape to get dirty, I decided to make him a scarf. Cold weather is setting in and I don't want him to catch a cold.
The colors look washed out here but the green is Softelle Alpine Green and the silver is Red Heart Super Saver Light Grey

129  Slytherin Scarf for Snape Plushie in Crochet: Completed Projects by FreakieGeekie on: December 16, 2012 09:57:40 PM
I'm making a Snape plushie for my Defense Against the Dark Arts O.W.L. in the Harry Potter Craftalong and I decided he needed a scarf. This scarf is a little over 36" long, including the fringes/tassles, and is 1" wide. I used a double stitch on this, something I've never tried before.

I'm not finished with the doll yet but I'll update with a photo of him modeling this later.

Challenge: Geminio
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Purple tree Kneazle
Brief Description: Everyone knows cats and Kneazles like to climb trees so I thought it would be appropriate for an ornament. Thankfully we have no people of a suspicious nature in our house so one could safely hang in our tree. All it needs now is a hook to hang from the tree.
Project Picture:

I thought the black stitches would contrast nicely with the purple felt.
I used purple felt since I have SO much of it: I found some on sale and I bought quite a bit of it.
