Prompt: December- Galapagos
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: UFO - I made two squares for this project in December before tossing it aside due to not being a fan of pink
Project Name: Pink and camouflage bag
Some species develop natural camouflage for survival purposes. I've always thought pink camouflage was a bit silly because, unless you're hiding in a flock of flamingos, it's rather useless. The only reason I even had pink camo was that it was in a lot-bag that I bought at Goodwill a few years ago. The pink is leftover from a project I did for free: my coworker gave me a skein of pink yarn and I made a little flower for his girlfriend (which I didn't get a pic of). Also, as a note on societal evolution (I think that's the term?), pink was once considered to be a masculine color while blue was used for girls.

Prompt: New Zealand
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: UFO (I started this in October and it was supposed to be a Xmas gift. OOPS!)
Project Name: It's dangerous to go alone! Take this!
When I think of New Zealand, I think of elves because of the Lord of the Rings movies. But when I think of elves, I'm more likely to think of Link from Legend of Zelda. Though it is never explicitly said that he or any of the others of his kind are elves, they look rather elfish to me. The amazing smileyyogini made me a Link slouchie beanie in the videogames swap last year. My sister is also a fan of LoZ and asked me to make one for her so I did this. It's not a slouchie but she likes it so I guess that's all that counts Tongue

I forgot to post this here! I made my pixel sprite icon using the two on the right as references:

The Deadpool sprite is from cx-asuka on DeviantArt

Prompt: December- Flash Mob
Team: Fandom
Project Name: Nerd culture avie
Like roler, I feel that nerd culture is a big part of who I am. I like making references to my fandoms to see who can pick up on them and am sometimes pleasantly surprised. In honor of my love for nerd culture, I made myself a new avatar for here and DeviantArt. The Deadpool sprite came from here courtesy of dA user cx-asuka. The "me" sprite was made by carefully referencing two Pokemon Trainer sprites from Spriter's Resource and making a pixeled version of myself wearing red like Deadpool I then animated it via Photoshop Elements 7.0 and made it look as if I'm tagging along behind him. The two images on the right are the trainer sprites I used for outfit and hair references.

The images were zoomed in, print-screen copied, then pasted/cropped so you don't have to strain your eyes to see where I referenced. Tip: if you want to do this, borrow someone's digital art tablet because doing this with a mouse will make your hand/wrist hurt.

Prompt: December Battle Royale- North vs East vs South vs West
Team: Fandom
Project Name: Crocheted winter hat
One of my coworkers, who is a sweet kid, asked me if I could make him a purple and black striped hat until he saw that I could twist the strands together to make an interesting effect. I chose South because here in Louisiana, most people really appreciate hats like this since most of us don't really like the cold.

Purple/black hat for my coworker. Made in the same colors as my stocking. I softened it up by soaking it in warm water mixed with a little fabric softener then washed/dried it according to the package instructions.

My Christmas stocking:

I need to find and photograph my mittens! I'm working on finishing up a purple/black hat for one of my coworkers.

Prompt: December- India
Team: Fandom
Project Name: Christmas stocking
When I think of sarees, I think of bright, beautiful colors which I used as inspiration for my stocking. You can't really tell from this photo, but the purple in my stocking is a really bright purple (Red Heart SS Amethyst). I used the black as the contrast in an attempt to tone down the purple. In the photo, it seems to work but it's still very bright in person!
