Project Name: Star Wars crib sheet
As a nerdy mama, I wanted nerdy things for my baby's room. I actually wanted his nursery's theme to be sci-fi/space but had no luck finding any such baby stuff in stores, be it clothing or bedding.
And what I found online was super pricey.
So of course that means I just have to do it myself, right?
I searched Pinterest and found this tutorial on The Ribbon Retreat blog and sewed up a sheet.

I sewed a fitted sheet for my little froggy's crib:

I got the fabric from Hancock Fabrics; the tutorial for the sheet can be found here, on The Ribbon Retreat blog.
I'm going to be making a second one, this time with Doctor Who fabric  Grin

My fiance's friend Blake is his best friend and no one is more loyal to you than your best friend Smiley His favorite college football team is LSU and I found some LSU fleece on sale at Hancock Fabrics so I bought some along with some blanket binding and made him a blanket Cheesy

Didn't work on curtains today (I slept a LOT) but I did get this done up for my fiance's best friend:

It's about 1 1/2 yards fabric with satin blanket binding sewn on (a whole one and less than half of another) to give it a finished look. Super simple and relatively cheap because I bought it all on sale at Hancock Fabrics.

Y'all have seen the hat but this cutie was a nine months in the making project and I'm very proud of him:

His name is Lucius and he's a very lively baby who loves looking around.

I'm actually posting something instead of lurking! Shocked

Prompt: March - Daylight Savings
Team: Fandom
Project Name: Burp cloths
Project Link:Here

I made these burp cloths for my baby using dimple dot minky and Spider-Man fabric. These took less time than I thought they would, even though they did take a few hours of trial and error. Y'see, I thought I would NEVER finish them, just rage quit and throw the fabric in my scrap pile because minky is a pain to work with if you don't know what you're doing (I didn't). But I did learn some useful things which might help others so if you're going to be working with minky for the first time anytime soon, go to the post for some tips.

7  Burp cloths + tips for sewing minky in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by FreakieGeekie on: March 25, 2016 01:32:43 AM
My son is due March 30th and since we only received six burp cloths at my baby shower, I decided I needed to make a few extras because they're so useful.
The ones my aunt made for me were a patchwork mixture of minky and soft flannel on one side with cotton on the other side. I really loved the feel of the minky and my fiance decided that's what I needed when I picked up a remnant of it at Hobby Lobby (I actually picked it up, petted it, then put it back but he decided that I *needed* it).

I made a pattern based on one I'd seen on Pinterest (no printer to print the one I found). The backing fabric is some Spider-Man flannel I'd had in my stash. They're 11" x 16".
These burp cloths were my first time working with minky and let me tell you, it is NOT fun to work with if you don't know what you're doing, like I didn't when I started. It slips and slides as you pin it and tries to slide around while you're sewing it, too.
To save yourself a headache, do what I did (I learned these through trial and error):
Have a lint roller handy because minky sheds like crazy when you cut it (and only when you cut it).
Use alligator clips (or those little nickel hair clips like you can find at Hobby Lobby) with your pins (clip it THEN add pins) to hold together the minky and whatever other fabric you're sewing with it (this works with minky on minky, too: I tried it with some scraps).
Place your clips about every two to three inches around the edges then put a pin or two between the clips about an inch apart. This helps prevent slippage better than the clips alone.
Make sure the minky is on the BOTTOM when you're putting the fabrics together and when you sew it on your machine.
After you've finished sewing with the minky, clean out your machine because you're probably going to have little bits of minky fluff all up inside it.

That scrappy fabric and those quilt squares are pretty, alwaysinmyroom! Shocked  I really love that purple wonky house <3

Glad you ladies think Harley's cute Cheesy If you want to see what he really looks like, there's a pic of him in the post I made on the amigurumi board.

Here are five burp cloths I sewed up for my baby, who's due the 30th:

One side is dimple dot "minky" my fiance bought for me at Hobby Lobby (I petted a remnant then put it back and he picked it up and insisted on buying it) and the other side is some Spider-Man flannel that I'd had in my stash. I got the idea for the shape from some cute burp cloths I'd seen on Pinterest. There was a pattern provided but we don't have a printer so I took some graph paper I had and drew a vaguely similar shape for my own pattern. They're 11" x 16" and super soft, especially after being washed in baby detergent.

9  Harley the Chihuahua amigurumi in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by FreakieGeekie on: March 25, 2016 01:06:10 AM
The pup in the foreground is *technically* my mom's Chihuahua, Harley. He's a very well-loved three year old dog who thinks he's a person and he adores my dad more than anyone (he was given to my mom so, technically, he's my mom's).

He doesn't mind being put in a sweater but if you put anything else on him, he flops over as if he's done with life. Since my mom wishes he'd let her dress him up in cute things for the holidays, I set out to find a crochet pattern for a Chihuahua. I found "Lucky the Chihuahua Dog Amigurumi" on Ravelry by user Doris Yu. I followed it except for the color pattern for the dog since Harley's color pattern is very different.

I should have embroidered his toe spots instead of crocheting them because they turned out too big but he's still cute.
Now all I have to do is make up some cute little holiday themed accessories for him (Christmas hat, Easter bunny ears, trick-or-treat bag, etc) and I'll be able to give him to my mom. She loved the pic so I know she'll love him even more when I give him to her along with the little dress up goodies. Smiley
I'll update this post when I get the little extras complete.
I'll also be making a dress-up ami of my sister's Chihuahua, Max, who is the other Chi in the photo.

So many awesome things have been posted while I've been away from Craftster! Shocked
Here's something I made about a week or so ago but never got around to posting:

It's an ami of my mom's Chihuahua, Harley. He's not an exact copy but he looks pretty close and my mom loves it. I've yet to give him to her (I sent her a pic) because I'm going to make some cute holiday themed accessories to go with him. I'll also be making one of my sister's Chihuahua, Max.
He was made from a pattern I found on Ravelry called Lucky the Chihuahua Dog Amigurumi by user Doris Yu. I didn't follow the pattern exactly except for the stitch count because Harley's color pattern is different from the patterns'. His eyes are 12mm stuffed animal eyes and his nose is a 15mm stuffed animal nose; I got the eyes and noses from Hobby Lobby.
