suereal and I did a personal swap. She received yesterday so here's a pic of one of the other things I sent along with her ponysona:

Little Groot has his own little thread

I also sent her a cute multi-colored octopus ami that had had a craft accident and "lost" tentacles but I forgot to take pics Roll Eyes

2  Little Groot amigurumi in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by FreakieGeekie on: October 18, 2014 01:37:30 AM

While I've yet to see Guardians of the Galaxy, I've heard great things about it.
However, suereal has seen it and adores Groot. She and I did a personal swap and one of the items I made for her was a little potted Groot. I based him on a video clip which another friend linked me. I also tried following a pattern at some point but couldn't make sense of parts of it and the body was much too small for his head. So I improvised and made it up as I went along Smiley
He has no armature, not even in his arms, and is stuffed in such a way that he can be posed however she likes. His arms even hold poses pretty well Cheesy
Though he's not 100% accurate, he's still pretty cute and suereal likes him. And that's what counts Wink

Project Name: Tattered curtain decoration
At work, I get volunteered to decorate above/around the counter because I'm the only one who's not afraid to climb on top of the counter to reach the ceiling. That being said, my manager bought some cheapy imitation cheesecloth (it's too loose to be the good stuff) and asked me to hang it above the counter so that it appeared as if we had curtains. Easy enough, right? Well, sure, if you can use tape. I was not allowed to use tape on the fabric because it could tear the cheesecloth-like stuff. So, being the industrious little Craftster that I am, I cut a length of black yarn and tied it off to a nail in the wall and across to the hook above the sunglasses display. Then I taped it to the ceiling in a couple of spots and proceeded to wrap/drape the gauzy fabric over it and played around until it looked like passable curtains. It took a little over an hour because this stuff just did NOT want to stay up!  Angry But I won in the end and it doesn't look half bad Smiley

Thanks y'all!  I'm not a graphic person, so if anyone wants to tweek and redraw I'm fine with that (hint hint FG Grin).  I will redo it once I get home on my drawing tablet...and Yup AMIR, I was thinking the white should be blood shot..and maybe blood drops dripping off the needles?  And I think each individual eye should have it's own colored iris....that way they can be personalized...

I'll see what I can do! Cheesy

Ta-da!

My scanner cut off small parts for some reason Tongue The blood drip on the bottom is to make it seem as if the eye has just been ripped out. Not sure if it makes sense realistically but it looks interesting. The ends of the threads on either side is supposed to look like hearts.
If anyone wants something changed, let me know and I'll see what I can do Grin

I'm behind on posting up the monsters for the 30 Day Monster Challenge because my internet is being weird. Tongue
But I just HAD to share this one because it looks really nice Cheesy

The theme was "Myth of Your Heritage" and my heritage is quite a motley mix so I had a wide variety of myths and monsters to choose from. I chose draugr.
Draugar (singular is draugr or draug) are like ghosts except that they have physical bodies, which makes them more akin to zombies. However, draugar often have superhuman strength and generally retain some semblance of intelligence, unlike zombies who are typically depicted as weak, unless there is a horde, and relatively stupid.
For more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draugr and http://www.vikinganswerlady.com/ghosts.shtml

See how much nicer my art looks when I have references? The pose was referenced from a stock photo by Marcus Ranum (http://www.ranum.com), particularly this one. The clothing/armor comes from various images of "Viking" armor.

Project Name: Manananggal
In searching for a different vampire for the 30 Monsters Challenge, I found a type that's a bit creepier than some of it's kindred. In the Philippines, the Manananggal is a female vampire who looks like an ordinary woman by day but by night, she splits in two at her torso and the top half flies about drinking the blood of men and pregnant women with her long, proboscis-like tongue . Typically, the lower half is left standing but some accounts say that she sometimes splits while she is in bed leaving her lower half in her bed "sleeping".

I went for a somewhat silly expression, as if she sees the observer and is doing her best to creep them out. Her wing isn't cut off: I ran out of room because I had forgotten about the Manananggal's wings. Tongue

More 30 Day Monster Challenge art:
Day 3, Satyr

I had no reference at all for this but I'm pretty happy with it Smiley I still need to work on proportions and anatomy.

Day 4, Human + x = Taur -> Human + donkey = Onocentaur

I like it except for her derpy head and her weird arm/hand. Tongue I need to practice right-facing faces.

Prompt: September - Hide and Seek
Team: Fandom
Project Name: Rori the Zombie Fairy
I joined a 30 Day Monster Challenge over on DeviantArt and the theme for the second day was "Fear into Fantasy". At first I was going to draw the Headless Horseman in drag for a different sort of fantasy! Wink But as a lover of fairies, I decided to draw Rori as a zombie fairy. She fits for Hide and Seek because no one I showed her off to realized she was a zombie fairy until I pointed out the exposed brain/hole in her head. I need to practice drawing brains.

If anyone is wondering, she's holding a bag of pixie dust. And the bandage on her leg is to hide the hole because I drew this without any references and I can't draw muscle tissue without reference.

Not a book but a mini comic series. If I like it enough, I may just make a series out of it. It's going to be web comics posted to my DeviantArt page. Smiley

I joined a 30 Day Monster Challenge on DeviantArt. I submitted the Headless Horseman for Day 1, Favorite Monster. For Day 2, Fear into Fantasy, I drew Rori as a fairy.

The bandage is to hide that her leg is missing a chunk of skin (because I didn't have any references and can't draw muscles without reference).

Cute shirt, cmouse! I applaud you on the ruffles. Though I love them, I hate sewing them Tongue

My latest drawing project involves improving my skills for a mini comic involving monsters from movies and myths. Here's some practice work:
Dr. Septimus Pretorius, management of the castle-turned-boarding-house

Facial concepts for some of the main cast. Clockwise from the top: Rafe Cross (human form), Rafe Cross (wolfman form), Dr. Pretorius (much improved from the first drawing), Aurora "Rori" Knight, and the Headless Horseman.

The Headless Horseman racing across the countryside on his horse:

Though I'm happy with all these works, considering I've not drawn a lot in the past few years (barring cartoony/chibi art), I know I can improve.
