1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: Your favorit fiber to spin. on: December 09, 2006 03:41:44 PM
I have spun Texel a few times and I quite like it. I don't find it to be the softest of wools but not the roughest either - kinda in the middle.

As the Texel sheep is originally from here in The Netherlands, it is pretty easy to source fleece during sheering time.

At the moment I spinning some "german wool" not sure what that means but it seems to be a fairly long staple and soft. Since I only started spinning this year, not sure I have any favourites yet - still eager to try everything that is spinnable!
2  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: What wheel do you have on: December 09, 2006 03:28:18 PM
I have a Louet S50 (the walnut coloured version of the current S51) and an Ashford traditional.

I've had the Louet since February (I bought it after my second (of 3) spinning lesson. Even with the original bobbins (2 speed verses the current 3 speed) I can spin a pretty thin lace weight without the lace flyer. I love my Louet, it is a workhorse with huge bobbins.

The Ashford found its way to my house a few weeks ago. I enjoy spinning on her but I still learning what I need to fiddle with when to get the results I am hoping for .... I was spoilt by the Louet, no fiddling, just spinning (no oil either Smiley

Ooooh, I can't wait for this swap to begin!

I hoard recipes like I hoard material like I hoard yarn like I hoard .... I LOVE recipes! On weekends I enjoy trying out new recipes .. sometimes my husband even enjoys when I try out new recipes (when they turn out Smiley

I too would like to include US/Metric measurements - does anyone have a website handy with a nice conversion chart? Otherwise, I'll google it when I have my partner info.

It will be so much fun to gather up some recipes for my partner!!

Oh, I am so happy to hear that your package arrived quickly (5 days!) and in one piece! Yippy! I am glad you like everything - hope you like some of the music too. I really tried to cover a little bit of everything since I didn't know what kind of music you like to listen to. Enjoy the choclates and coffee candies - they are two of my favourites!

Neverender,
Do you know Sufjan Stevens? He just put out an entire recored about Illinois. If you know him but aren't a fan - nevermind. But if you haven't heard him, check it out. I love him. He's also got an entire record about MIchigan.

I looove Sufjan Stevens! I have the Michigan CD, need to get the Illinois CD and wait for the CD from my home state, Pennsylvania! Thank goodness for the iTunes store - I don't think he is popular (yet?) here in The Netherlands as I've never seen any of his CD's here.
