I am obsessed with cupcakes, and I was thinking of a way of displaying them for desserts or a party. This is a cup and a saucer made into a cupcake pedestal, or if you will a cup + cake stand. It’s a great conversation starter, and you know everyone likes a little laugh. I am the queen of bad puns in my house and sad to say this one had me laughing all day.
It’s a great way of using the mismatched cups and saucers you might have from broken sets or thrift store finds. I have to say it’s pretty easy to make, I think you just have to find some that fit together. Elmer’s has awesome glue for china and glass and ceramics that is dishwasher safe.
Could there be a clothing swap where anyone who wanted to participate post the clothing they want to swap and went through the pictures of clothing of other members? Make it so that if you wanted to swap 5 items you could get 5 items? Something first come first serve? And then the picture is taken off or a swapped tag is put on the picture? Is something like that allowed on this site, or is anyone interested? I can’t organize a swap but I couldn’t find anything like this on the site so I just wanted to know.
I have this great big button collection and when I bought it I had this plan of all the trinkets that I was going to make from them. I was going to walk around with a art deco button necklace and a bracelet. I searched through books for the how to of the design I wanted I bought magazines, I even searched the web. I found nothing, nothing that I wanted to make. Then I found a really cute 1920 trinket bracelet that had rocks and keys and pennies and stamps hooked onto a chain by bottle caps. This is basically my take on the bracelet.
I want my son to eat something healthy and yummy, but I want him to feel special when he opens his lunch. At first I didn't get into it, I used cute pasta shapes or something very easy to throw together, now I'm working on making it look very nice and have fun shapes in it. I'm in the process of looking for small cookie cutters to cut the fruits and veggies. He seems to like it, though he told me on the dinosaur that he didn't like dinosaurs anymore. I just think it would be cool to know if anyone else is trying to do this on a small amount of time. I would love ideas on how to decorate the food too, I'm going to get food markers but here has to be some other great ideas out there to(that are fast, and easy I have like 10 min at 7am to do this before my coffee.... that type of easy.)
I have a serious problem with pop that means I have a serious problem with bottle caps. I keep them in a tin, because I don’t want to throw them away. I have heard that they are not recyclable, and I just wouldn’t want them sitting somewhere in a landfill because I can’t control my need for pop. I used to give them to my son and he would build things with them, castles and houses. Then he would explode them by throwing even more caps at the buildings. He has outgrown that, he is now onto Pokemon cards. So that has left me with a huge dilemma, what to do with all these caps. I love looking at all the cute Japanese craft books that are on eBay, and one of the books was all about what to do with caps. I am about to buy it, but I thought I might try to figure out the pattern on the cover. I failed miserably, but I couldn’t in good conscience just throw it away so I tried to make it work. I thought I can make them in to mushrooms; it will be just too cute that didn’t work so they ended up cupcakes. I was really upset about the mushrooms, but I now know what I did wrong and I just need smaller beans in the pincushion or fluff. That way it will look like a cute mushroom and not a pathetic mutant.
One of the problems I had last year is that I would send my son with milk money, or treat money, or school store money, any money and it was lost in his backpack so he couldn't find it or he dropped it. I was looking at what he wanted me to get him over the summer (he can dress anyway he wants over the summer, but in school its uniforms) and he wanted arm cuffs like his friends. So we bought some for $5 to $10 and he wore them everywhere, a lot more then anything else, and wanted more. So I thought I can make some right? I'm always sewing and these cant be to hard to figure out right? So I sat down and decided that it was going to have to be made out of recycled material, and easily washed, and cared for. So I made the cuffs I'm showing and I love them. There made out of old pop cans, and old felt. I really do have a huge problem with pop.
I wanted something cute, and that would somewhat cute up a tee and blue jeans day. I figure that I can carry this and have an original outfit. It’s made of recycled items: jean leg, pop cup, and old unused felt. I got the idea for the cute basket purses that I have seen in Japanese craft magazines. I had a hard time trying to figure out the best way of making this without too much hand sewing. I love it!
I'm realy very excited to use it. He is makeing threats to make more for friends, and to sell on Ebay. So please don't make and sell his idea.. On one side it has my name, his name, and our sons name. Im so proud its his first project!
