1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Chocolate and Bread Vest on: February 20, 2009 04:31:20 PM
That vest is amazing much better then some of the vests I've seen in the stores, I think it fits you really well too. Just an amazing job and how professional it looks. I'm in awe.

https://www.homeandbeyond.com/prod-0178055.html here is a link to the glue its called Elmer's Glass & China Cement it works with ceramics too, and what sold me its dishwasher safe. I bought the glue at a local craft store for about the same price as this online store but if you want to go to your local craft store this way you know what its going to look like when you go looking for it.

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Cup + Cake stand. on: February 19, 2009 12:44:45 PM
I am obsessed with cupcakes, and I was thinking of a way of displaying them for desserts or a party. This is a cup and a saucer made into a cupcake pedestal, or if you will a cup + cake stand. Its a great conversation starter, and you know everyone likes a little laugh. I am the queen of bad puns in my house and sad to say this one had me laughing all day.

Its a great way of using the mismatched cups and saucers you might have from broken sets or thrift store finds. I have to say its pretty easy to make, I think you just have to find some that fit together. Elmers has awesome glue for china and glass and ceramics that is dishwasher safe.

It is on my blog http://workingoninsightcraft.blogspot.com/ too.

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / A clothing swap? on: February 08, 2009 02:34:27 PM
Could there be a clothing swap where anyone who wanted to participate post the clothing they want to swap and went through the pictures of clothing of other members? Make it so that if you wanted to swap 5 items you could get 5 items? Something first come first serve? And then the picture is taken off or a swapped tag is put on the picture? Is something like that allowed on this site, or is anyone interested? I cant organize a swap but I couldnt find anything like this on the site so I just wanted to know.

6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: What do you think of Deceptively Delicious or The Sneaky Chef? on: November 06, 2007 03:26:38 PM
You know one of my sons favorite cake is chocolate-applesauce, its a recipe that I found years ago to make myself feel better about eating so much chocolate cake. It has no sugar and no added oil ( the applesauce takes care of all of that) I don't think its a great Idea to omit all the noticeable veggies in your kids life, but when your giving them treats then why not make sure there getting a serving of fruit or veggies in it? It takes away the guilt, and you know what makes your kid healthier. Motherhood is hard and stuff like this makes you feel better, so why not do it. By the way my mom did it, my grandma did it and I'm sure it goes so far down the line that its not even original but there is a great fudge-spinach recipe out there I loved that. These recipes are everywhere, and be sure to ask your mom, save yourself some money and do some searching.

Thank you kaciesaurus, fairweatherknitter, Ryoruki, CrochetAdikt, popidol131, mandanak for your thoughts and suggestions. I hope its just wanting to be like his friends. I really liked some of the ideas that you put down mandanak I think I'm going to go for more subtle. Maybe apple shapes and carrot shapes, I really need to go buy those veggie cutters. popidol131 I hoped he would feel like his mommy put more effort in his lunches therefore I'm much cooler then I was before... wishful thinking I know. CrochetAdikt I'm sure he wants to go out and play again I wanted him to see the extra effort I was putting in so he would feel special and then think I'm really cool. Grin  Ryoruki he loves sausage and he will love the sausages shapes and French toast shapes I don't give him syrup he doesn't like it. Fairweatherknitter I hadn't really thought that he wanted comfort food, I'm going to talk to him about that see if it is what is happening. Kaciesaurus I'm going to see if maybe he wants to craft his bento, I think he would love that. Thank you everyone for your good advice.

I have been stopped in the last weeks from doing anything to cute for one reason: I start to make my sons lunch he walks in and does this OH NO look and says .... you know mom I really didn't like this, or I wont eat it if things are touching, or its not ok to eat that for lunch. So we are on a stump I make sandwiches and fruit and veggies and he doesn't complain. I started to make the cute chick egg and he started telling me about levels of "fullness" and I guess that means no eggs. Oh well more time on the drawing board. here are the last lunches ( I lost my camera for 2 weeks so all I have are these pictures.)
He loves jell-o, I put saran wrap over it after the picture. He didn't eat it, and asked me to never send it again. Hu... any Ideas why?
This is home made corn bread peanut butter and jelly sandwich, I had made it before and he loved it ( I didn't have my camera) this time the jelled parts were not eaten.
rice with cheese and tuna and cream of chicken, one of his favorite dinners. I did it to see if I could get him to eat rice so I could make the cute rice molds. It was not touched and he still is talking about how that was the worst lunch ever.
homemade "gremlin pods" ( a mayo biscuit the best biscuit ever) peanut butter sandwich with jelly  and veggies. He ate everything.
Homemade hard roll with some tuna fish salad, and veggies and fruit. He ate everything.

I know this sounds like complaining but I'm just going crazy over this. He will now not eat things that are in shapes. So back to the drawing board. I'm close to sending him with a bowl of cereal and a carton of milk everyday.

On the plus side I have some more Ideas, pancakes and ham in slices that are easy to pack and eat , peanut butter bread pb&j sandwich, burritos and nachos,  more pasta he likes that.

Ryoruki I love the French toast I'm going to use that idea at home first, then maybe for school, I love the idea of a brunch lunch.
With the apples if you wash them with hot to the touch water and take all the starch off it it wont go brown it also works on potatoes too. The apples in the pictures are brown cause they sat in the frig for 5 days. I'm lazy I cut all my veggies and fruit on Sunday so its easier to make lunch.

Oh I love the chick egg Ryoruki how long did that take? I am going to make the apple slivers with dried fruit next weeks for my son. I know this is going to sound dumb, but what type of hot dog is that? It doesn't look like the hot dogs I buy.

JeepChick thank you for the idea about rice a roni, its my mans favorite food (don't ask....) I wont have to use 2 packets to feed 3 people again (again don't ask...) and I wont feel like I'm giving my son a heart problem.
