1  Ganesh Cross-Stitch Piece in Needlework: Completed Projects by digitalmaven on: July 04, 2006 12:33:55 PM
This piece was a wedding gift for a longtime friend and her new husband.  They're both originally from India, and I wanted to send something handmade and appropriate for the occasion.  Though it was a bit late (the wedding was in October, and this piece arrived yesterday!), they really loved it.  The photos were taken before I washed, ironed, and framed it, so please forgive the wrinkles.

(You can click on the thumbnails to view a larger image on Flickr.)

All in all, I think it took 6-7 months total to complete, and I was working on it quite a lot during that time.  I have a better idea now of how long these things take (this was my first major cross-stitch project), and learned a lot in the process!

It was a kit project, and you can find the kit for sale here.

2  Re: Hello Kitty & Tare Panda Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by digitalmaven on: November 26, 2005 07:41:36 PM
I received my package of swap goodies from mistress_batty today, and inside were a lovely handmade bag, a memo pad, and a pin.  Here are the pics:

The bag is made of nice, warm fleece, and it's so well-done!  I really like the zig-zag style stitching as a detail too.

I'll wait to see if she posts pics of what I sent her, but otherwise I can post a few I took before sending Smiley

3  Drawstring Bag (My first sewing project) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by digitalmaven on: September 05, 2005 01:25:20 PM
I've been wanting to buy a sewing machine for quite awhile, and finally did.  Here's the first thing that I made with it: a drawstring bag!

It was pretty easy to make, following a pattern that I found on a LiveJournal community:

The fabric was from Joann Fabrics and the ribbon was from Hancock Fabrics.

4  Simple handmade cards in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by digitalmaven on: August 31, 2005 01:37:05 PM
These cards were pretty simple to put together, but I thought I'd post here and share them.  Just click to see them larger.

All were made with blank cards from Memory Box, origami paper, and some lovely paper/3D stickers I found.  I was inspired by some photos that candlemomo made.
