1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / bikini top help! on: May 23, 2006 11:18:01 AM
hey guys,

I've got a bikini that I had bought for me a few years ago, but never worn because it makes me look flat-cheated (I'm a 32A/30B), so this summer I wanted to figure out how to pad it out a bit. It's in the same style as this one: http://content.neimanmarcus.com/products/mn/NMW01YB_mn.jpg and it's not underwired or anything.

I've got some gel 'chicken fillets', but does anyone know if they'd be suitable for swimming/beach stuff if I sewed them in place? Or am I better off looking for some light, foam ones?

I figured that I should probably copy the little 'pockets' off my shop-bought bras so that I can take the bust enhancers in and out, but does anyone know what a good fabric for doing this would be? Or any tips at all on what I should/shouldn't do??

Thanks a million <3
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / any info about costume design...? on: January 16, 2006 01:50:27 PM
I'm at art school, and my current project is to design and make mini-costumes for an imaginary production of 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof'. I've never done any costume design before, so if anyone here can point me in the way of books, websites or general useful stuff, that'd be great!

One problem I'd particularly like ideas on, if poss, is how to make little mannequins that can model the costumes. Sadly won't have time to make full-sized ones.

Thanks guys! <3

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / cushions from clothes on: July 08, 2005 08:45:32 AM
I made these cushions for my Final Major Project exam at my art school, and thought I'd share. They're all made from old clothes -- a baby-grow, a jumper (as in sweater) or two, and a dress.

(more detailed version can be seen at http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/20347388/ )

I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out! Smiley Any comments and constructive criticism you'd like to share would make me a happy bunny  Kiss
4  COOKING / Dessert / Dalek Cakes ::with pictures:: on: May 27, 2005 11:30:57 AM
For anyone not familiar with Daleks: http://www.jeffbots.com/daleks.html. I got the idea from http://www.livejournal.com/users/doyle_sb4/349875.html. Ahh, the good old days...  Roll Eyes

Anyway, me and my sister made dalek-themed cakes for her brithday!

Obviously, fitting 18 candles onto it was a challenge, but...we managed it!

Comments appriciated! Cheesy
5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Box with Books ::image-heavy:: on: May 21, 2005 05:37:48 AM
My first ever project, so be nice  Wink

I picked up 3 old cassette tapes complete with cardboard covers, a Barbie-themed tresuery box and some recycled paper... and went a little wild with goold paint, embroidery thread, photos printed by my computer, and some drawing pens.

I'm thinking of making one last book, so that it's a set of three. I may also add decorations to the box. Any ideas, opinions, criticism (of the constructive varietyy) and general worship would be appriciated!

6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Mixed media on canvas on: May 20, 2005 11:28:52 AM
For my art class I made these out of mixed media on canvas --

Any opinions (on them -- or indeed any other work in my gallery)would be most welcome!
7  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Casette tapes! on: May 20, 2005 05:21:10 AM
First off; I'm 110% new here, so if this is in the wrong place or something, SORRY! I'm pretty sure it's OK here, though  Undecided

Anyway, I've been making little book-art thingies out of casette tape covers (y'know, the paper sleeves they used to come in?), for my Foundation Art course. They've turned out nicely, but I'm now left with about 8 tapes and their little plastic boxes. Does anyone have any ideas about what I could use them for?

Thanks  guys Kiss
