1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / bikini top help! on: May 23, 2006 11:18:01 AM
hey guys,

I've got a bikini that I had bought for me a few years ago, but never worn because it makes me look flat-cheated (I'm a 32A/30B), so this summer I wanted to figure out how to pad it out a bit. It's in the same style as this one: http://content.neimanmarcus.com/products/mn/NMW01YB_mn.jpg and it's not underwired or anything.

I've got some gel 'chicken fillets', but does anyone know if they'd be suitable for swimming/beach stuff if I sewed them in place? Or am I better off looking for some light, foam ones?

I figured that I should probably copy the little 'pockets' off my shop-bought bras so that I can take the bust enhancers in and out, but does anyone know what a good fabric for doing this would be? Or any tips at all on what I should/shouldn't do??

Thanks a million <3

Apparently certain unis (I think at Oxbridge. I could ask my friend at Cambridge if it's true...) have a tradition of "Toast by Post"... you send it to someone, they take a bite, send it onwards/back, and so on Cheesy
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / any info about costume design...? on: January 16, 2006 01:50:27 PM
I'm at art school, and my current project is to design and make mini-costumes for an imaginary production of 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof'. I've never done any costume design before, so if anyone here can point me in the way of books, websites or general useful stuff, that'd be great!

One problem I'd particularly like ideas on, if poss, is how to make little mannequins that can model the costumes. Sadly won't have time to make full-sized ones.

Thanks guys! <3

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: What's your favorite quote? on: July 22, 2005 01:13:38 PM
I rather like the quote in my signiture:

I as going to begin by quoting Shakespeare, but then I thought: why should I? He never reads any of mine. -- Spike Milligan (a funny man, but probably completely bonkers)

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Cute Things Swap - U.K. based? on: July 16, 2005 11:21:23 AM
That sounds sweet & simple; plus a UK-based sounds good to me!
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: 1920's/flapper swap? on: July 16, 2005 11:19:11 AM
I think that sounds like great fun! I'd consider getting involved, depending on when it happens and suchlike.
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Amlie-style video swap on: July 16, 2005 11:14:53 AM
I think that would be a cool idea, but it'd have to be limited to people just from the US (or wherever), cause in my experience videos won't work on both sides of the atlantic, since the players work diffrently  Embarrassed
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: BUST magazine on: July 15, 2005 06:36:05 AM
I'm interested in checking out Bust, but I've never seen it in Borders or anywhere else... maybe I'll try and order a couple of old copies from the website to see if I like it. I also like the look of the pink & brown T shirt tehy've got there...
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Elle girl ! on: July 15, 2005 06:25:27 AM
I get the UK version,a lthough I have seen the US one around here. It's pretty good, though some issues are better than others. Sometimes it has great features on customising things, and some really cool makeup looks (like 'tyre-track' print eyeshadow... bizarre), but other times it has nothing much. All the other teen magazines are pure drivel.
