Project Name:  Sea Dragon Ornament

Brief Description: I made these ornaments using illustrations I drew for a coloring book. Pressed for time, I colorized them in Photoshop. 3  Re: Christmas Stocking Swap Rd. 10 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by artsycandice on: December 19, 2014 10:08:37 AM
I meant to wait until Christmas, I really did. But... I opened one, then two, then more... before I knew it there were fewer still wrapped then opened and it seemed like I should just finish the job already. So, I did. Grin

Behold, wonderment from P_E_S_T...

Here is everything together:
(Three items in the upper left were not photographed by themselves. They are a paper bird model, a window star kit, and a resin bangle with swallows encased within.)

Three little birds, a sculpted heart (that came about after a conversation we had when things were rough for me), and a wing pendant with a quote that completely speaks to me right now and actually made me cry when I opened it:

These little felted cups with ceramic centers (I was told that the little ceramic bowls are from France!). A beautifully embroidered bracelet. How. She spoiled me for sure.

An embroidered sketchbook cover. There is a pocket on the inside too:

This amazing wall hanging featuring Jolene's own photos printed on fabric and embroidered:

And... when there wasn't enough to stuff in the stocking she added one final, amazing piece... the sewing machine cover!

Action shots:

There is a pocket on the side:

You went above and beyond my dear. Everything here is so amazing and so me and so lovingly crafted. We've swapped a couple of times now and I feel like this is the start of a beautiful friendship. Wink Thank you so much. <3

I forgot to include these in the group shot. She made knitted bowls too for keeping things in. I <3 these. I got a little emotional when I opened these too. I say "bits" a lot. Smiley

I also received from kwality... Here is her fabulous monster all decked out for the cold winter ahead:

And here is the monster she originally made for me but doubted so she sent the above one. (And this one because her boyfriend told her that it was good too). I love that you did something different. I have not worked with air-dry clay before and have always wanted to. The only thing that failed about this piece were the sticky squares to hang him. (It fell off the wall). No worries, he survived! Cheesy

My honey really likes him too. Although we disagree about what is on his head. I think it's a little cap while my honey thinks it is hair.

A group shot (I also received some gelli-printed goodies. And, like Smeddley, have wanted to work with that forever too!)

Thank you so much kwality! I love my monsters. This has been so much fun!!

Okay... I think I will stop there for the time-being. There's more to add but I am tired and must finish my coffee.

I received from rockingbearranch for two of my themes...

The first is for "ukulele". The strings are stitched on.

The second was inspired by a hoop I have pinned that features this word. The word here is embroidered on fabric then glued down to cardstock.

And the back of the above card:

Thank you so much. I love them both!!

My stocking from P_E_S_T arrived today. You can't tell here but it is huge! lol

A detail shot:

It is soooo lovely! Oh my goodness! I have serious swap anxiety now. I have not had my own stocking in more than 25 years. Every Christmas I just use whatever extra one is floating around but this, wow. I will be the envy of all my family with this beast! Thank you!!

I received from P_E_S_T today, package 1 of 2. (The stocking had to be sent separately and isn't here yet, perhaps Monday). I opened it to find these beautiful paper origami stars on top. I must find something befitting to do with them to keep them nice. I might just pin them to my wall. Grin I can't wait to open the gifts. I am anxious to know what's inside, but I really like surprises. We are waiting until Christmas. (If mine makes it to her in time!) I will share the stocking pick as soon as it arrives.

Christmas Bag
Team: Randomizer
Project Link: n/a
Brief Description: My partner has not received this yet but since it's been finished for awhile I figured it was time to turn it in. This is for P_E_S_T in the stocking swap but she asked for a bag. She likes the colors in sari's (darn research submision! Wink ). This is what I came up with.

Project Name: Idaho Potato costume
Project Link: N/A
Brief Description: My son was assigned Idaho in his grade's states parade. Before I knew how the thing would assembled I bought cheap nylons and made a pile of potatoes. It wasn't until the night before that I bothered to cut out the state from cardboard. Then in a last-minute stroke of creative genius (ha!) I cut out a rectangle of fleece, cut a hole in the top and hot-glued the potatoes down. Instant costume! Oh, I'm not from Idaho but my ancestors are Scandinavian, which is likely where I got my own love of potatoes from. Wink
