I have been infused with some serious crochet mojo combined with a touch of holiday spirit for the past few weeks. Now, you all know what that means...Oh yes, that definitely portends a bit of twist in my yarn!

Introducing Holiday Pie-rets!



These crocheted versions of round flaky goodness are just in time for Turkey Day! And yes, you can be sure I will be wearing pie to my family's Thanksgiving feast. So, let's take a look at my crusty choices shall we?

There is the always popular seasonal delight, Pumpkin Pie-ret...



Topped with a dollop of cream...





OR how about a touch of dark and rich Pecan Pie-ret...





And my personal fave, the Cranberry Orange Pie-ret with lattice crust!





It's a tough choice to be sure.

Onto the crochet stats...

The Pecan and Cranberry Pie-rets were crocheted with an F hook and some of my Cascade 220 stash. An F hook combined with this light worsted yarn creates a very tight fabric. This is exactly the effect I was attempting to achieve as I was aiming for structure, not drape. My challenge during the design process for both of these Pie-rets was creating a perfectly shaped circle while using a popcorn stitch pattern. Needless to say, frogging ensued before I came up the correct increase to stitch ratio. I am happy with the results.

The Pumpkin Pie-ret was also crocheted with an F hook. However, I chose to use Lamb's Pride worsted for this one. Don't think I would choose this yarn again for this type of project. The FO ended up being too heavy for my taste. I will use Cascade 220 going forward should I ever decide to crochet another dessert-themed hat!

Nothin' like a wearable item adorned with fish skellies!



You think that this fact alone would make the Dead Sea Stole special, but no.  This crocheted design is special because it is made up of yarn that I've dyed, spun, or a combo of both!  Yes indeedy, this thing began with tufts of fluff!

I am pretty proud of this.  Hope you guys think it's cool too!!

I used glow in the dark acid dyes to make that chartreuse color pop.  I also needle felted the eyes on the fish heads.

Haven't quite figured out what my next homespun project will entail, but you can be sure that there will be more to come!

Okay, the shawl is knitted.  Your basic half round type of deal. 



The piping edge around the shawl is crocheted as are the lobster appliques.



You know, I had to pick a category and row for row, I've got more knitting here.  So, there ya go. 

I designed the lobster applique for publication.  It will adorn one of three nautical inspired pillows.  Lots of fun for summer!

I crocheted this from my cotton stash, based upon a pattern I have coming up in a future issue of Crochet Today mag.

A new accessory inspired by the season!



Oh yeah! The Saw That Dripped Blood...SCARF!

This was a quick crochet (at least until I got to the bloody portion of the program), made entirely from Cascade 220. The blood? Yeah, that took some time to accomplish as it is one continuous line of surface crochet. I rather like the results though.

Gruesome...yet oh so satisfying...

First there was Crabius Maximus...



This big guy was crocheted using worsted weight yarn and a size F hook.

Now there is Crabius Minimus...



This little guy was crocheted using fingering weight yarn and a size D hook.

Same pattern (my own design).  Different gauge.  Makes for two, yes two, Crabiuses!

So, yeah, I tried my hook at an under bust corset.  I neglected to take my measurements beforehand so it's a little big, but it was a good experiment nonetheless.  Definitely more iterations to come.

Just bringing home some more bacon!

I converted this pattern from the crocheted version I designed for an upcoming publication.  I think it looks pretty good, though I had trouble with the yarn and intarsia.  The yarn frays way too much making the weaving in ends process a nightmare.  I'm going to try the sweater again using fair isle for the color work instead of intarsia.  Less ends to deal with.  This may take care of my problem.  We'll see.

The sweater is for my daughter who is modeling it below.
