1  COOKING / Dessert / Re: how to make MARSHMALLOW FONDANT! (super pic-chunky!) on: April 05, 2008 06:07:03 PM
I'm so happy that my cake inspired something so Lynchean AND tasty looking!  Grin I think I may have to try this again with Marshmellow fondant...

Ps. I totally copied your board game idea (with a few differences of course) as a gift for another Twin Peaks obsessed friend's birthday this year. She loved it!

the search option was down when i posted my tut, but I'd been looking for this vintage post forever!

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=164992.0

it's craftster's first "black lodge cake" which I found a few months ago while looking up twin peaks crafts (when I was working on my twin peaks board game). It was my original inspiration. I'm scared of marzipan, though! Marzipan is made with almonds. I hate almonds, and almost all of my friends are allergic to nuts. So I put it out of my head until recently, when I discovered this recipe for marshmallow fondant!

...I really liked how she crafted The Arm! I however, was obviously not so brave!

I freakin love these monkeys. I love sock monkeys in general and find it shocking that I never thought about having anatomically correct monkeys around. I think the flasher would be hilarious!! Great job!

A flasher would be such a great idea! With a minature trench coat... Amazing!

.
That's awesome!  I was commissioned to make a pair of kinky sock monkeys and was thinking about putting magnets in them.  How did you get the magnets to stay put?  And how did you make those monkey fishnets??

Regarding the magnets, I used small round magnets from the dollar store. Most of the time they stayed in place if I placed them where I wanted before stuffing... other times I used a glue gun just to insure they didn't budge.

To make the fishnets I just used a old (clean) pair of mine... cut to size (obviously they have alot of stretch) and sewed up a single seam with my sewing machine. I used the black nylon bit at the toe of the stocking (with the tipe cut off) as the top of my monkey stockings. Hope that makes sense...

Awesome!  ...but have you considered putting a magnet in the mouth area too?
I did try putting magnets elsewhere... I had one female monkey who had a magnet on her hand and one covered in fabric which acted as her clitoris. And I had attempted to put a magnet in one monkey's mouth, but the magnets I was using at that point were not a strong, and so wasn't very effective through the fabric
But when I make more I will definitely add more magnetic erogenous zones (mouth, bum, hands, breasts etc.)

Thanks for your comments! I am overwhelemed with school work right now, but I really want to make more monkeys!

Aw. Thanks guys! I'm happy to learn that the idea of sexy sock monkeys doesn't just make me laugh!

It seemed like a natural coupling to me... But I guess I'm a little bit strange. It probably has something to do with my boyfriend's pet name for me being "monkey".

I really need to make a drag queen monkey! Complete with outrageous blond wigs perhaps?

These are a few of the naughty sock monkeys that I have been working on. What do you think? Sorry about the signage in the pictures.  Embarrassed The only pics I have of these guys are from the Erotic Arts and Craft Fair.  Wink

Wish I had taken more pictures! Each Monkey has tags with their names, interets, kinks and turnoffs.

The coupled-up monkeys (boy/boy, girl/girl and boy/girl) have magnetic genitals, which never fail to make people laugh.

I've been thinking of making a Flasher Monkey with Trench Coat, French Maid Monkey, and Multiple Partner Magnetic Monkeys!!

Any other dirty monkey suggestions?

Thank for you comments!

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Twin Peaks Black Lodge Cake on: April 18, 2007 06:47:29 PM
It was recently my boyfriends 25th birthday, and seeing as our relationship seems to have revolved around watching the entire series of Twin Peaks, I decided it was apt to make a Black Lodge Cake.

Here is the inspiration:

This cake was the first I've ever made, and I was a bit too ambitious.

The icing turned out bright pink instead of red, but it looked red at the bar where the birthday party was.

I made "The Arm", the coffee mug (with chocolate coffee) and the floor out of Marzipan. The furniture is from some snap-together wood set I found at a toy store.

It was really dense, but tasted really good!  He really loved it.
