21  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: My first Redondo skirts with made to match t-shirts. on: August 04, 2008 05:02:24 PM
Adorable!! I fell in love with KTLady's redondos a while back and had to order the pattern and make them for my girls for Easter.  I have yet to post them, but they turned out really well.  You're right, that pattern is not nearly as scary as it looks!  I found that pinning each curve to the next was a little tiring, but not difficult at all.  Yours out of knit looks so soft and comfy!  Great work!!

Pinning the curves?  I didn't even bother.  Just serged them together.   Cheesy

Cute! Good job, I personally am a tad intimidated by the redondo! Yours look great.  Smiley

I couldn't believe how easy they were!  It takes longer to cut out than to sew.  You must try it if you have girls!

First one made of stretch knit and I love it much.

And a second with a single fabric in the skirt and coordinating waistband.
24  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Scrub Fabric? on: July 29, 2008 02:00:40 AM
when i was sewing my own scrubs i just went to thrift stores and got kids sheets.. alot of them were cotton poly blends... cheap.. and they worked well... never had any problems with them... i pulled them out of the dryer and hung them up.. all was well in scrubland for me.

Fantastic idea!  Thank you.
25  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help me decide what to knit for a male friend. (please) on: July 29, 2008 01:59:48 AM
Actually I know I want to knit him a scarf (I'm a pretty new knitter) but I can't decide what to knit into the scarf.

I want to try my first pattern on a scarf and don't know which would be better his initials or the initials of the college we went to together.  He's 33.  Or maybe a very simple motif at one end?  So what would a guy like best?

29  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Florida Halloween Help (please please please) on: July 20, 2008 07:07:35 PM
Begging here.  I've only recently started to sew for other people and I have a request to make the following costumes for a balmy Florida Halloween.  Three Little Pigs for three children and Big Bad Wolf for mom.  I bought a pattern from eBay for the pigs which involves a jumpsuit.  Can I make that with poly/cotton broadcloth or interlock cotton rather than fleece?  Also I have looked for several hours for a wolf costume pattern and came up with zero.  Anyone seen one, have one, know just what to do?

Thanks all you great ladies!
30  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: Buying fabric by the bolt on: July 14, 2008 02:51:56 PM
Just saw this message but you might want to try a fabric co-op (or two lol) on yahoo groups.  There are some great groups on there that will give you a good deal on whole bolts.
