absolutely cute as a button with personality...  let me ask a *dumb* question though-- when sewing with knit fabrics does one need to use a serger?    cause i sure as sh*t don't own one!

i don't normally post a "wow, that looks GREAT!" post... but holey moley.... that is stunning and i ablsolutely LOVE it with long sleeves.  you have taken the pattern and made it your own. BEAUTIFUL!!!i finished mine and although i weigh less than 115 (not telling you my weight ahahahaha), i look like a frumpy sausage in my sweater. it shows every damn roll.  UGH!
maybe someday i'll add-on to the sleeves and lose those 7 pesky pounds and get flat abs. til then, i am looking for a trim and slim recipient for this sweater.

well, i've drifted from the yoga-knitting thing, mostly b/c it costs money which i don't have.... but if you are a knitter, there is a thursday night Knit Night that meets usually every week at someone's home.   all of us live in kansas (JoCo)  but if you're not too far away, we are open to that too.... drop me an email if you're interested.  we love creative funny people who like to cook soup for others and drink.    Tongue

seriously, this was such a fun project.... no two rows were alike.  i hope that some others make it and share their pics. if i had more appropriate yarn in my stash, i'd whip up another one tonight.

I looked sad about it, so she gave me 20% off the needles.  ......  Incidentally, this will help me justify the purchase of a really cute pair of light blue and brown shoes i've been eyeing for about 6 months.

i love you melidomi. you are a gal after my own heart.

i own this scarf... there's no way it's knitted. it's machine-made all the way, probably in china.

i think it was $28 or something... you should just buy it. and save yourself the insanity Smiley
I think it's kind of fun trying to figure it out, you feel very proud when you finally get it done. Plus, I would personally never pay close to thirty bucks on a scarf, especially if I knew there was a way I could figure out how to make it...but, I'm cheap, soooo

my point is, it is not knitted.  it is machine woven. you can spin your wheels all you like trying to figure it out... but you can't turn an apple into an orange.   it also has 15 different colors in it... even if you buy the cheap stuff (like i do cause i have no money either) there's no way you're going to spend less than $28.

if you want to make a vertically-striped scarf that is self fringing... that's another story.   i have made them before and they do turn out wonderfully...  my friend kyra in fact just finished a huge menswear scarf using this same method... http://kyra.typepad.com/knitmeister/2004/12/the_scarf_in_ny.html

get some really long circs (40" or so) and cast on somewhere in the neighborhood of 400-500 stitches.  when you come to the end of a row, leave a 7" tail and cut it.  begin each row with a 7" tail as well.  once the scarf is the length you want, tie every other tail together and voila-- fringe.

go for it melidomi!   if i hadnt been unemployed for the past 6 months i would get the cashmerino too.   someday when i'm financially settled i won't even think of buying cheap crap. after all, there are so many hours and so much love in handknit items, it's just a waste to use inferior materials.   but *sigh* for now wool-ease is all i can do  Cry
