Thanks!  :-)  I don't know where my daughter gets her "BUT I CAN USE THAT!" attitude.  lol

I always like to purpose when I can, and there's no better time to do so than Earth Month!  :-) Here is the rescued dishwasher silverware basket turned art organizer I made for my daughter. The handle makes it perfect for her to carry around all of her pens and markers.  :-)

I glued a piece of cardboard to the bottom so the skinnier pencils wouldn't fall through the holes.  You could use 6 smaller pieces down in the sections, but this seems to be working fine!

The cubbies are the perfect size for art supplies!

This is just a pic of the back, but it shows off the handle quite nicely!

Thanks for checking it out!  Please find more of my projects at www.CvilleCraftyGirl.Weebly.com!

Here's how the box started. The "binding" slides out to reveal the chamber of secrets (see what I did there?).  ;-)

Here it is after painting.  I love how this one turned out!  I used watered-down acrylic paint for the stain, scrapbook paper decoupaged for the decorations, and sharpies to further embellish the book.  I used a piece of handmade paper for the inside but I did not Mod-Podge the top so it kept its soft feel.

Radarfan,

It came white.  We used thin plywood on the back and painted that before we attached it.  We laid the plywood down, put the shelves on top (back down) and traced the openings onto the plywood, then we painted and "wallpapered" inside (well, a little outside) the lines so when we put it on, the backs were already done.  That's why only the backs are done (accented walls, we like to call them!), because it's difficult to paint the white shiny veneer.

Hope this helps, but let me know if you think that made NO sense whatsoever.   :-)
