1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: Christmas ideas for my boyfriend who's impossible to get things for? on: December 02, 2012 08:07:59 PM
If you will be giving him any more shirts, I recommend sewing a heart with your names on it on the inside of the shirt. Its close to his heart and romantic but on the inside, he can keep the mushy stuff just for the 2 of you. This is great for sweatshirts and thick winter clothes.- romantic

Male snacks- nuts, beef jerky, crackers, chips, specialty coffees or energy drinks in a plain paint can from the hardware sore or black toolbox from dollar tree with a gas card...complete with an invitation to go where ever he wants to go- practical

Membership to state or national parks -a picnic?

As a mother, I can tell you if he likes you enough your burnt cooking on its very worst day taste better than his mothers best gourmet cooking- you shouldn't bother to compete. He will always love that woman but he is only hearing one out of every four words she says, what you do is ingrained. But, you should cook for him. Men are practical. Food, sleep, sex. Dinner and cooperation is pretty much all most want. - you really have already won even without German cuisine

2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: The Crafty Wedding Craftalong! on: August 03, 2010 11:28:43 AM
I just started planning my wedding. I haven't even decided what to make yet. There are so many ideas out there.

So far, I know what cakes I want and my best friend and I will make them. I plan on making the invitations as well. I am not sure how to decorate yet. But, the dress I like is goddess style and the cake is Grecian. So, I think grapes or olives or golden apples. But, I just wanted you guys to know I was reading your post and commiserating with you and crafting along.

If money is a concern, I would spend the majority of funds that you have on the honeymoon...hopefully that will be the most memorable part of the occassion anyway.  Wink

Maybe for the small ceremony get flowere and give guests photo albums or disposable cameras to commemorate the occasion.

As for feeding 30-50 people cheap, I would go for more of a dinner than appetizers because knick knacks pay more attention to detail and details generally cost more. But something Italian like a spaghetti dinner or perhaps a Mexican dinner... I don't know what kind of food you are into. But a spaghetti dinner while cheap could be presented in a really romantic/classy way. Candles, grape decorations, wine, bread. Same thing for the mexican dinner...thrift stores have lots of props for themed parties. BBQs could go either way on the budget...depending on what meat you get. Go for whatever your happy/comfort food is and make a theme around it.

Good luck!
Leann

All the projects are so wonderful. Everyone is so creative. The Dollar Tree has always been a favorite of mine but NOW...I am so inspired!
It will be tough to vote for just one. Undecided

Maybe mention your past together:

Maybe you can use topics like "where you first met", "where you went on your first date", what u like to do together, who introduced u

 or your possible future:
or maybe topics like "what i would for u", or  "what i would not do for u" and make it comical or corny, "what i want to do with u" "places i want to go with u" ,etc
