When you start to look for a pattern on the web, typing in words like squid or octopus or even cephalopod, will get you a truckload of patterns for amigurumifigures, but since I’m not easy to please (and neither is my daughter), we found that one pattern wasn’t cuddly enough, the other was disproportional and some others were just plain frightning. As always, I wanted to bring you a pattern that was simple to make, quite quick to do and above all, looked really really cute.

After having drawn multiple sketches and with some erasing and redrawing because of all the remarks of my oldest, bit by bit a little octo came to life. Completely in a kawaii-like style, thanks to the little beady eyes and happy smile.
So go and get your best crochethook, gather your bags filled with yarn from the attic and go completely wild with a whole family of octopussies. Give them a flower or a crown to wear and make them even more original. And you’ve made an Octo, be sure to send us a pic or post one on facebook, we’ll make sure it gets a nice spot in the showcase.
Materials used :
as always my trusty 3mm-crochet hook
yarn : annell rapido
a small string of black sewing thread for the mouth, but you could use yarn aswell (the mouth will be a little thicker)
and of course stuffing and 10.5mm safety eyes
It took me about one hour and a half to complete Octo.
you can find the free pattern on my blog : http://www.beestenbende.be/index.php/en/?option=com_content&view=article&id=39:amigurumi-octo-pussy-2&catid=10:patronen&Itemid=197
