What a great idea, the basket is amazing and the candles look great too.
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: DIY Chic Industrial Candlesticks (The Perfect Gift!) on: December 19, 2012 02:41:36 AM
I am always on the look out for candle holders that are a tad different and as repurposing is a passion of mine I think this idea rocks. You have set my mind spinning as far as what can be used as a candle holder.

That is a really cute tea cup you found there. The nutmeg scent would fill the house with the scent of baking - great if like me you aren't too good at baking  Wink
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Beeswax Candles :D on: November 23, 2012 03:34:25 AM
They look great. I haven't used beeswax sheets before, only melted the beads. Looks like a very fun and useful workshop
5  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Excited by the possibility of my recycled item today on: November 14, 2012 02:55:43 AM
This is what I ended up making. The cardboard held up really well. It would survive multiple pours.
I tried to upload it but it wouldn't go the right way up. See it here http://candlemakingskills.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/P10200421.jpg

I sprayed the candle with glimmer mist to give it some sparkle, as it isn't glitter I don't expect it to affect the burn of the candle

Love this idea, I always wonder how to safely do trick or treating. The owl is so cute.

It is only cardboard, but it is 4mm thick and very sturdy so it will accept a few candle pours. Luckily she brought me another 2 home from preschool today  Smiley
8  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Jean Legs? on: November 01, 2012 03:01:17 AM
I make little handbags out of them. I have 2 daughters and whenever they have a birthday party invite I make a jean leg handbag. The kids love them

My daughter always brings home art works from preschool made out of other people's recyclables - mostly boxes and lids. Today however I got all excited because she has brought me the perfect Christmas tree candle mold! Will post pics once I have made the candle, but I had to share with people who would understand my joy! Smiley
10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Thanksgiving / Thanksgiving candle ideas on: October 11, 2012 04:35:34 AM
I have been making some Thanksgiving candles lately.

This one has tea stained paper that has its edges torn. On the paper I wrote the things I was thankful for, then I wrapped the paper around a container candle that I had made.

I was playing around with placing items in a vase and then placing a pillar candle on top. I really liked the yellow of the corn in this example.

Thanks for looking!
