I guess my pattern is similar enough I can post my pouches here even though I didn't use the tutorial.

I sell quite a few of these at festivals & to a local shop.

12  Re: Business Card Promo Swap Round 4 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by motleycruiser on: April 20, 2009 02:22:13 PM
Well I had planned on sending out last week but a local coffee shop owner was interested in my stuff & moved our meeting date up a week so I had to crank out some product samples for her. Good news is she loved everything & I'm now in another local shop (well 2 locations) YAY!!!

The top left corner are my homemade envelops which have business cards in them. I guess great minds think alike.

Does anyone have a preference if they would like their items given out at a festival with a purchase or sent with my etsy purchase. I was thinking of keeping half for the festival.

13  Re: question about making a pot holder - finishing edges in Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions by motleycruiser on: April 01, 2009 08:50:35 PM
When I do mine it's basically front & back fabric good sides facing each other with the batting on the bad side of the back fabric. I sew a square (leaving a hole), nip the corners, turn it right side out & stitch around the edge. I like to stitch in the ditch when I do a quilted pattern.

My partner received back on the 14th so I thought I would post what I sent. She likes pink, black & skulls.

I did the seams french style so it could be reversable

I sent a crochet bag from one of my patterns with a short handle for her daughter who likes pink.

I also sent a mesh produce bag but didn't take pics

16  Shell neckwarmer or scarf in Crochet: Completed Projects by motleycruiser on: February 07, 2009 10:09:36 AM
I've been battling a huge bout of depression lately and haven't really felt the creative urge. This is my toe in the water back to crochet project. A friend of mine sent me some really funky vintage pattern books from the 40's to the 70's. I saw this really cool shell style belt in the back of one. Of course it was going to be in the next issue & I didn't have that next issue. Isn't that how it always is with old patterns you see something you really love but it's coming out next month & there is no way of getting one from 30 years ago...sigh. Anyways in true crafter style I thought you know I can make that. Well I modified my thinking mid design (again what crafter doesn't do this) and decided to do a neckwarmer because it has this cute victorian feel to it. So my first rough draft...

sorry about the sterile manequin. I can get better angle pics of my stuff on her than trying to do a self portrait.

I may revamp the edging a little.

I currently working on a scarf version and writing down the pattern as I go now. So I'm hoping to have a finished pattern up within the next week. If anyone is curious that's a recycled wool yarn in worsted & I believe I used a 4.5 hook (maybe 5)

19  Re: How's your Etsy shop doing now? in Selling Crafts on Etsy.com by motleycruiser on: April 24, 2008 05:54:58 PM
I didn't want to start a whole new thread for this, but I did want to show it off. My new display hand. I need some ideas on how to make the wrist longer & how to make it sit upright w/o having to hold it. I was thinking of floral foam wrapped in fabric for the wrist but then it would be top heavy. Any ideas from you uber crafty peeps would be appreciated.

Before

After cleaning but before sanding. She had a little Michael Jackson look going on.

After

3 coats of acrylic paint. They sell a color called "flesh" which I was really amused by, because we all have the same skin tone right. Not sure if I like the nail polish color yet but I didn't have any pink

There are pics of the other side on my blog if you are interested.

If anyone needs a torso, butt, or foot I can get them for you and ship to you for a small charge. A plain white female torso & the butts are $50-60, feet were $20. They also sell full torsos online for $69-100 http://stores.ebay.com/Mendelsons-Liquidation-Outlet

20  Re: Knifty Knitter? in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by motleycruiser on: April 10, 2008 02:47:17 PM
I was at Ikea last week & they had these throw blankets that were loom knitted & they wanted 29.99 for them.
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90125675

I made a breast shapped pincusion the other day from one of the small wood KK copy looms they sell at hobby lobby. If anyone is offended by the image let me know & I will take it down. I can't link the other places I have it posted because its a no no.
