Wow, this little guy is EPIC. I just love him to pieces. All that detail and making him poseable - brilliant job!

I'm so sad the pictures don't show anymore Cry

My webhost is just having some issues at the moment, thus refusing to load all my pictures. :/ You can see the pics of him on my tumblr, right here, if you'd like. Smiley

Alli can say is wow. So good I doubt I will ever have talent to do anything near as good as that. I am just now getting into poppers and hope to have my first doll done by Christmas.

Any words of wisdom or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much!

These guys aren't poppets so I can't offer any advice on that specifically (I am quite horrible at following other people's patterns and gave up on poppets the first time I tried!), but the key with dollmaking, I've found, is just patience, and don't be afraid to mess things up - because that's how you learn what *doesn't* work. Wink

Just try and do everything the best you can at the time and even if your first doll doesn't turn out as great as you were hoping, you have to remember that it is just practice and perseverance; you will improve with each and every thing you make and soon you'll be making things you never ever dreamed possible.

Good luck and, most importantly, have fun!
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Mini Thranduil art doll on: July 28, 2014 06:47:26 AM
This guy was..a challenge.  The only fabric I could find that even remotely resembled the real thing (at this scale) was this weird loosely woven tinsel-like stuff which was hell to sew, even after giving it a lining. I almost gave up so many times but I'm glad I didn't in the end; I adore this little dork.

To be completely honest, he's not entirely finished. I need to make him his blingy necklace at some point, but I seem to have lost a bit of motivation with him. Maybe when the last movie comes out....? We'll see.

He is 9 inches tall and is completely poseable. His hair is from a wig and his crown was made from super sculpey ultralight (quite possibly THE hardest thing in the world to sculpt with -- which makes sense since it's not actually designed for sculpting) and a hacked up aquarium plant.   His eyebrows are embroidered, his eyes are handpainted, and I decided to omit a mouth because I really like how the lack of one seemed to add to his expression.

Unfortunately one of the tips broke off his crown during my recent move. Sad I'll fix that once I find where I packed my clay supplies.

A close up of his crown;

Annndd...just for fun, and show a little of his poseability, here's one of Thrandy, before his haircut, on my little baby Pegasus pony I put together.

Hope you like him. Smiley

Thanks for the warm & fuzzies!  Kiss

I audibly gasped when I saw him! I am absolutely obsessed with Bucky (I'm making my own plush and a modified barbie doll version now) and this is spot on and wonderful!!! I totally knew it was him the quick millisecond glance I caught  Grin

Love it!!!

Aw, I'm so glad you like him --and that he's recognizable!  I Can't wait to see your versions. Wink

They turned out wonderfully! Love all the details you put into her (I know how time consuming her costume is to make!) - and her little walkers are both creepy and somehow adorable. Fabulous work. Smiley

That is utterly adorable; those wings are fabulous and the horn is just the cutest. I bet the pony was super happy to get such a wonderful 'upgrade'! Smiley
