1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: OTT 21 Gallery on: April 16, 2009 03:45:33 PM
Apologies for the crazy delay in posting pictures, but here is the lovely journal rosiegarden sent me for my poetry theme:

Look at that awesome binding!

With my favorite pen for scale.

Open on top of a book of poems.

It worked out perfectly; I've been meaning to buy a little journal for poems to fit in my bag for ages and just never go around to it. [plug] Also if you're a poet, or know any, check out http://quintessentialverse.blogspot.com/ [/plug]

And finally here is a shot of the inside of the Hungry catapiller coin purse; I have some of the outside as well, but they are pretty much the same as what has already posted:

For being super adorable it is really difficult to photograph.

Now to go catch up on the rest of the gallery!

I TOTALLY want Hungry Catepillar fabric!!!  Where did you get that?

An amazing fabric shop called Mason's in Abingdon, England, but a quick google shows you can get it on-line at least one place: http://www.creativequiltkits.com/andover/very-hungry-caterpillar
I'm very much regretting getting only a half meter right now; I really think I need an Eric Carle dress.

I should have pictures of lovely poetry journal rosiegarden sent me up soon. I was going to post them the other day, but I actually thought the following "Oh I'll do it after I re-install my operating system." Of course I've ended up with both Windows and Linux not functioning due to hard drive problems and I'm now running Ubuntu off of a CD; whoops.

Just to clarify, I haven't actually started; I just know my item can be made to fit the size limitations and still be reasonable.

I am about half way done with my tiny thing (weekend craft binge) Has daylight savings time messed with anyone else's brain? I seriously have been checking my clocks over and over thinking "Gosh I hope these are right..." It has also made me incredibly zombified... Cheesy

I am getting doubly screwed by daylight savings time; I'm American but I live in England, where the time change doesn't happen until the 30th. My computer switched automatically though, which really messed with me since I didn't realize it had done so, and now I have to remember that for a few weeks there is only a 4 hour time difference between me and people I might want to call. Plus I get the normal consequences of DST when it hits over here.

On the plus side, my idea fits perfectly into four inches, so now I just need to devise some sort of fastening device.

I forgot to save my list and can only remember 4 things, but here they are:
1. Fairytales
2. Mythology
3. Fire
4. Purple

Turns out I only remembered three correctly; I blame grad school for breaking my brain. Mine are actually:
1. Poetry
2. Fairytales
3. Mythology
4. Fire
5. Night

Hopefully my partner has fun with them; I've already got ideas for hers!

Same for me! I desperately wanted to start swapping again, but the requirements for everything else were just too intense for the first one back.

Wohooo, I've just sent in my info. Haven't been here in a while and this swap seems like the right thing to get back to crafting!

8  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: Post Photos of Your Tattoos! on: February 15, 2008 10:29:48 PM
Continuing with the bee trend:

This has something of an odd meaning. Last year a friend of mine asked me why I was single, as though there is some sort of tangible reason, so I said "Oh, I am secretly made of bees." It is one of the best things I've ever said off the top of my head and it became a joke among my friends. Even though it was kind of a non-sense thing to say I think it actually is a pretty apt metaphor. I got the tattoo to symbolize that even though I am made of bees, they are pretty bees and being single does not mean that there is something wrong with me. So basically it is about being happy about who I am.

I am so exceedingly happy with this tattoo. My first (the tree growing out a book posted awhile back) did not come out exactly how I wanted it so I was really nervous about getting a second one. I think this one is wonderful, but there is some detail missing in the picture so I don't know that it comes through.

and to show the placement a bit better:

9  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Come one come all post your new tattoo IDEAS! on: February 07, 2008 02:10:22 PM
I like the first one better, but I love the wings on the second one.

P.S. I promise I'll have a pic of my bee up soon; my camera decided to break so I have to borrow a friend's.
10  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Re: Project Runway 4! (see first post) on: January 26, 2008 08:29:29 AM
Although everyone seems to agree Christian is a brat, which I do agree, he's totally the representation of our generation. I'm also 21. Just like Christian. I was watching the show with my friend and that's totally how my friends and I react to everything! "Why do I have to do this? God why are things so shitty?" It's sad, but we're spoiled. We've kinda grown up feeling like we deserve some things we really don't. For example, I'm upset that I have to pay for rent, insurance, gas, phone, internet, cable, tuition, and food, although I still live with my father. Who has now become more of a room mate than a father. I feel like he should be helping me out instead of taking every paycheck from me. However, I forget that I'm extremely lucky that I have a place to go at night. I don't know. We're spoiled. I know this. I can admit it.

I don't think his bad attitude can be attributed to his age. I've been 21 since March, the majority of my friends are about the same age, and I think all of us would be ashamed to act remotely like Christian. Also I think being upset about rent is not quite so bad as being incredibly mean about people on national television.

Anyway, back to the show: How is Ricky still around!
