31  Re: Dotee Doll ROUND TWO Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Sarcastra on: August 23, 2008 12:36:09 PM
I have recieved all my tiny dolls for this swap.  Here's a shot of the latest additions:

From left to right,
1.  Ice princess by Linda P (I'm going to have to keep her far from my cat who has a feather fetish!) made of white felt, a mirror face surrounded by beads and white feather hair.
2.  Wirey faced doll by Berta Berta.  She has little bead eyes on her detailed wire face and a swirl of copper dangling at the bottom.
3.  SalLee by craftADDchick with embroidered details and blue bandanna body.  She'll fit in just fine around here!
4.  beaded limb doll by squirrelgirl.  A tutu and hairpiece go well with her beaded arms and legs.  Face stamped on cream colored knit.

I'll have to get all my dolls together for a full group shot.  Today, I'm hoping to put up the shelf which these dolls will dangle from in front of my craft room window.

Thank you all for a fun swap!

I love all the dolls - they're grand!

Here are my two received dolls:

Yeah, I whipped up a background for them 'cause they deserved more than my cluttered desk behind them.  On the left, from AlwaysInspired, we have the Cap'n.  He's a fierce dolly who had a rough adventure in the mail system - he lost his charms!  The blue skull was one dangle and another was a gold button (treasure!) which my cat immediately commandeered to bat around the dining room.  Cap'n has a hand stitched face and hat as well as blue beaded waves at his feet.

On the right, from teachingjonah, we have Cate the Cat.  Cate is a sly little creature with a beaded gold necklace and the most adorable tail.  She seems happy to hang around with Cap'n, which is good since they'll be on display together soon.

And since my dolls have been received, here's a group shot to alleviate any camera/battery/cord hassles.

I have received my last set of inchies from Calsters:

Thanks Calsters!

Thank you all for a great swap and an excuse to get into another form of crafty artyness.

Inchies!

... and not included in that first scan are the inchies from Allie_Lucy.  I looked all over my desk and couldn't find them - I'd put all my inchies in one place so I couldn't understand how I lost them!  Then, finally, a tiny bell rung in the back of my head and I remembered her neato packaging with a tiny brown bag stamped, with a lace strung tag inside.  They were under my keyboard.  I hid them so my cat wouldn't be tempted to eat the pretty lace string and damage the inchies.

I'm hoping to use all these great inchies to cover a large, ugly serving tray I found at a thrift shop, then cover it all with resin for a smooth surface.

I received my final stamp in this swap from Balkandina a few days ago.
Here's a pic:

(as stamped in one of my Moleskines)

It's funny that she made me a skull in a heart, because I recently painted a skull in a heart for a ceramic ornament.  I really like the ghostly image of the skull.  I sometimes prefer the chunkier images and this one works well; it looks ephemeral and fleeting on the edge of the heart.  She also included some extras - the flower stamp, lots of collage fodder and some cute tissue paper, too.

Thank you Balkandina - I love it and it's very me.

Here are some more photos of goodies from Gizomic:

Three different, cool books about Ohio, a set of reindeer tea towels (I love reindeer), a packet of winter candy from a local chocolate shop, a figurine of Christmas Story's Ralphie receiving his decoder ring in the mail and a cardinal statue - the cardinal is the state bird of Ohio and of Kentucky, my home state.

In this shot we have a nice scenery calendar and two skeins of red and black WoolEase; red and black is one of my favorite color combos as well as the team colors for Ohio State.  At the front right, there is a bag of Buckeye candies; they are a ball of peanut butter surrounded by chocolate.  They are candy representations of the buckeye nuts (from Ohio buckeye trees) which have a unique toxicity.  Buckeyes are what Ohio residents are often referred to as since a political candidate in the past used it in his slogans.  In the middle front is a HUGE (18 fl oz) coffee cup covered in facts and drawings of Cleveland.  Coincidentally, I've been looking for a large coffee cup for myself; I don't know how gizmonic knew this.  She is psychic, I tell ya'.  On the front left is a bag of pasta shaped in the university shaped "O"s.  It has a sauce packet inside and I think she sent me an entire dinner in the making - pasta with sauce, beer, candies.  That's a meal.

A Cleveland magazine, a buggy eyed reindeer ornament, a reindeer finger puppet on a peppermint stick (he is currently guarding my computer desk), a pack of reindeer tissues, pirate tissues, a box of pirate bandages with a tiny, miniature-sized pirate rubber ducky inside, reindeer treats (jellybeans) and I love the cartoon reindeer on the package.  They look like they're in treat heaven - so cute!  On the left is the stack of rust-colored fabrics of fat quarters she used to wrap everything in.  I think I could make a quilt top out of just that stack.  On top of the fabric is a wonderful small pot.  It is handmade, but I can't quite make out the signature on the bottom.  It currently has a home on my sewing desk - useful and pretty!

Finally, a poor shot of a poster.  At the bottom, it says Cleveland in old-newspaper style letters, but I couldn't fit it all in the shot.  It is a nice winter holiday poster, classy.

I was going to spread it out some more, but my home internet has been very flaky all of a sudden and I don't want to risk not being able to show off all this great stuff gizmonic sent.  Thank you gizmonic.

I know!  I'm really lucky.  And gizmonic is awesome for being a brilliant angel during the holidays after already finishing the original swap.

Here's another photo from the gigantic box of goodies from Ohio.

So much stuff.  A large book bag with a zippered opening from her local library is in the background.  In the middle back is a pack of holiday cards with envelopes; the photo features a popular/famous gazebo from her town and the whole set is made local to her.  Middle right: a candy mold for Day of the Dead sugar skulls!  I've always wanted some of these, but never gotten around to ordering them.  I have no idea how she knew this - she's psychic.  In the front is a felted bowl holding two hand knit washcloths and a bar of some luscious smelling soap.  I can't wait to pamper myself with a bath using these items.    Finally for this picture, framing the items are locally made beers!!  She is so sneaky to have shipped me beers!!  One is a pale ale and the other is a lager, they both feature names and labels tied to the history of Ohio.  That is just unbelievably cool.

There is so much great stuff in this box I'm going to have to keep spreading it out, otherwise we all might go into a goodie-overload coma.  I've still got four more photos and Dusty isn't even here yet!

Well folks, this thread isn't dead yet.  I was flaked on in the original swap and gizmonic volunteered to Swap Angel for me.  If you scroll back a bit, you'll catch the pic of cute knitted bunny Dusty who will be coming to live with me after spending the winter with gizmonic.  I received the enormous and heavy (almost 20#!!) box of goodies last week and she says it is only the goodies!

There are so many cool items and pictures, that I'm going to have to spread out the picture love a bit.  So here is the first picture, a bit of a teaser:

This is the freshly opened box, packed to the top with goodies from Ohio and wrapped in fat quarters of lovely rust colored fabrics.  Stay tuned for more!

39  Re: Inchies exchange! Signups CLOSED; send by Feb. 1 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Sarcastra on: January 29, 2008 05:37:58 PM
Finally finished!

The woodcuts have small type inserts on them - hope everyone can see them.  If you see one that you know is destined to be yours, let me know so I can help it find its home with you (red group)!

Phew!

Here are the recent stamps I received:

from laminathegreat and have2craft, respectively.
For size reference, the umbrella is carved onto a 2"square.

Thank you ladies both so much for my Gorey-inspired umbrella and happy gal.  They are both on my worktable, ready to go straight into use.
