25  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Arabesque Earrings on: October 16, 2005 11:09:38 AM
I love these earrings! I'm going to make alot more. I used 6mm,4mm and 3mm Swarovski crystals and size 11 and 15 seed beads. If you want the pattern go to www.beadworkdesigns .com, she sells the pattern for $6, totally worth it. The patterns are in color and are easy to follow.

I recently took a class at the bead shop I work at, and look what I made!!! I used size 11's and 15's with a pearl for the center. I'm really happy with how it turned out and wanted to share it.

I haven't finished this one yet, I still need to decide what I'm going to put in the middle. I'm going to make a beaded loop on the back and wear it as a pendant!

27  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Some New Stuff!!!!!!! felting yarn tutorial on: September 28, 2005 06:04:59 PM
Hey everyone,

Here are some new skeins. I added beads and novelty yarn to add some texture. Also, I felted the last skein. Felting yarn is really cool!

I used size 6 seed beads on this one.

This one I used a silk that a friend gave me. It really adds a nice texture.

I felted this one!

Thanks for looking. Has anyone felted their yarn? Will you post some photos?

**tutorial instructions**
Thanks for all the fantastic feedback. Here's how I felted my yarn:

Felting Yarn:
1.Using a nibby noddy wrap your yarn.
2.Then using a cotton yarn tie every 6 inches all the way around. Or a yarn that isn't wool.
3.Place yarn in a large pot of water with some soap on the stove. Heat the pot, keeping the water hot. I then used my potato masher to aggitate the yarn.
4.Aggitate for a little while, maybe 10 minutes. Take brakes, your arm will get tired.
5.Take the yarn out, ring out the water, lay the yarn in a O and carefully seperate the strands. At this point the yarn may have tried to felt to its self.
6.Take off the ties and replace them. Place the new ties inbetween the old ties.
7.Repeat steps 3-6 until you reach your desired look.

Have fun and share your results!
28  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / I'm plying for the first time... on: September 18, 2005 07:31:20 PM

29  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Babe Wheel Oil? on: September 16, 2005 11:59:33 AM
Can anyone help me?

I just received my Babe Wheel and I love it.  But, when I opened the box the oil bottle was broken.  What kind of oil do I use for my Babe?  I need to oil it and soon.  Any help would be appreciated.

30  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Help! Me Ply! on: September 14, 2005 10:40:14 AM
I just got my new Babe spinning wheel.  I am having a hard time plying.  When I ply the twist, un-twists. I'm left with roving wrapped with what ever I'm plying with .  How do I keep it from un-twisting?  Do I let it "set" over night?

Can anyone help me?
