1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Sticker Machines on: November 23, 2003 03:45:02 PM
I'm nuts.  I just bought a Xyron 510 (laminating, sticker-making, etc) machine -- I had one of those 50% off coupons from JoAnn and bought it on impulse.  So now what do I do with it?  I mean, I know what it does, but what cool stuff can I really make with it?  The best I could think of was to make mailing labels without having to buy expensive mailing label printer sheets.  But that's boring!

Right now I just have the permanent adhesive cartridge that came with it, but I'll buy others if I have some idea of what the heck to make with 'em!

Heeey...can you put fabric in a Xyron?  (I'm about to find out the hard way, methinks.)
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Black Velvet Hand on: October 28, 2003 08:20:52 AM
I bought a black velvet hand to use in my Bazaar Bizarre craft fair display.  I'm going to use it to display jewlery (ring, bracelets on the wrist, necklces hanging from the fingers maybe).

But I'm not into the look of black velvet.  Can I spray paint it another color or will it come out mucho weird?  If not paint, what else can I do to it so it doesn't look so...department store?  Huh
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / The "Where Am I?" Bracelet on: September 18, 2003 06:20:50 PM
I'm so excited about how this bracelet came out.  It was disgustingly easy:
1 disk+loop bracelet (from mantofev.com)
6 miniature compasses (also from mantofev.com)
5 plastic jewels (from Michael's)
E-6000 Glue

I'm giving this one as a gift to someone, but I think I'll make some more to as Xmas gifts.  Fun!

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / mantofev.com (doo-dads of ALL kinds) on: September 17, 2003 06:22:07 PM
mantofev.com is the best for little doo-dads like bottlecaps, watch parts, findings, bizarre vintage goodies, and other things, all of which can be used in craft projects or neat assemblage art pieces.

I've bought from there like 3 times now, and even though everything on the site is so cheap I'm buying so much that I'm going to go bankrupt!
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Book with Hodge Podge of Craft Ideas on: September 11, 2003 12:22:49 PM
I picked up the Jo-Ann Your Guide to Creativity book recently because it covers a million different crafts all in one big book.  Most of the examples they use are kinda hokey, but we crafty gals can make them cool, right?  It covers everything you can think of -- cake/candy, soap candles, clay, glass, jewelry, sewing (clothes, decor, needlepoint, etc), knit/crochet, floral stuff, and painting.

A good choice for when you want to learn a little of everything.
