271  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Multi- Partner Wall Art swap (sign-ups Sept 30- October 14; S.O. Dec 3) on: October 23, 2012 02:50:54 PM
FoxyBlue: Just started yours tonight--I am being ver experimental, and of course i keep judging and critiquing it...but i never judge a work until it finished, and i promise to make it lovely for you!!!

Looking forward to it!

I have not shipped yours yet. I still need to get the extras Smiley Also, I kind of had to follow where my creativity was taking me, so it's not exactly what you had 'requested' but by the looks of things you've made yourself, I'm pretty sure you will like it. I had to run with it. How's that for being cryptic? Wink

no sweat--took some twists and turns with yours too, but i think u will love it! Smiley

ThriftyLiving4U: yours is all done; i am trying to gather shipping materials to pack it securely, and hope to ship by end of week.

273  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Found Object Earrings: Two Pieces of Litter, Destined to Become ART! on: October 22, 2012 02:04:33 PM
Hmm, I want to try this. But wouldn't the rust be bothersome? I bought some things from Wal-Mart and i have a few keus around to try this. Thanks for inspiration

that's a great question with the rust:

i scrubbed at the objects when i got them home, and the rust is embedded within the metal (which is also why i prefer natural rust on objects rather than trying to create a finish artificially), so it does not flake or anything that would bother someone.

they will retain their rust finish, they are not sharp or dangerous, and as long as one does not put them in their mouth or anything, i'd say their extremely safe  Wink thanks for looking!  Smiley

awwww...thanks guys! thanks for looking at the feed back! as i said, the universe was just sorta like: "here's some stuff to make earrings", so u can't really ask for anything more than that from the crafting-gods, right? Smiley

have any of u ever had stories of the perfect find, some discarded something that you KNEW was meant to be art, and that u transformed?
275  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Found Object Earrings: Two Pieces of Litter, Destined to Become ART! on: October 21, 2012 06:45:28 PM
I had the most serendipitous walk this morning: along my route, I found two discarded pieces of rusty metal (a washer, and some kind of key) laying on the side of the road. There were no other pieces around, and the two objects went so well together, I KNEW they were meant to become earrings.

All I did was clean the objects, wrap each with copper wire, and attach an ear wire. Voila! Thanks for looking Smiley

Spent hours working on and finishing one for WingsofClay and then realized that I didn't like it so I'm starting a new one. Very typical for me.

no stress--we are always our own worst critics! i just finished one for ThriftyLiving4U...and now i am second guessing myself, thinking that it did not come out "perfect"....how is it that we artists are so free and experimental, but also so harshly critical of ourselves?!

That's a really creative idea, I like the thought of using bits you'd otherwise throw away

thanks!!! to me, "trash" is TREASURE Smiley
279  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Sea Creatures Swap on: October 16, 2012 07:14:57 PM
I am IN if this happens--currently in progress in my first swap ever. if someone can organize the sea creature swap, i will participate. and all my work is vegan, so i can even make "sea creature" jewelry that does not use real creatures--i make my own cruelty free molds.

So is it crazy that I am almost done? Lol! I took a personal day and worked hours on them although it seemed like minutes lol. But they should be ready to ship in a couple days. Want to give them some good drying time.
Holy cow, you're amazing!!

I, too, am almost done with my first partner's art: spent all day working on it for ThriftyLiving4u: you're gonna LOVE it!!! taking photos, too, so that i can make a tutorial once I am done---
another couple days for detail work and drying time, and this will be ready to ship....and then on to the piece i am making for FoxyBlue!
