1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Leela from Futurama for my daughter HELP PLEASE!!! on: September 30, 2010 09:22:11 AM
i was leela for halloween in 2008!
for the eye i bought a white styrofoam ball from the craft store- sliced off a side of it to the right size.... covered it in white felt- and put a dot of black felt as the pupil.
i took nude pantyhose- and sticky sided velcro- and velcro'd the "eye" to the pantyhose. then tied the panty hose around my forehead.
i pushed the eye up a little bit so i could see better- but this was the only option i could think of for the eye.

the gun i just bought a water gun from the dollar store. i also bought some cheap belts and wrapped them around my black boots for a chunkier feel.
i wore black leggings, white tank top, wig with bangs- and sprayed it purple with a high ponytail.
i also wore a black belt and looped the trigger of my gun through it

YOU are a doll, thanks so much! i have a whole bunch of books, you'd think i could just look stuff up. i'm resistant to learning a whole 'nuther language, so to speak. i love to crochet though and i spend way more time on the interwebz looking for picture and video tutorials than it would take me to just memoraize some abbreviations! i'm such a lame-o.

if i attempt a fish i'll post my progress and bombard you with questions. hee.

sure! man i was resistant at first- i did the same thing...
i still dont like following patterns- i usually go my own way halfway through...
i dont like rules!

i am so addicted to crochet.its inevitable that youll actually learn the language if you do it enough though!

He rocks!!  You should totally put him on a plate with fake lettuce when you wrap it!

thats a great idea!!!! i may put him into a chinese takeout box- and put some fake lettuce in there or something...

oh dude, that's awesome. i'm bummed you don't remember what you did, my friend would love that. ha, i can hardly read a pattern anyhow!

great job.
i might try to count the rows- but i dont want to confuse anyone!
the body was done in spirals and i just pulled the bottom to be cone shaped instead of just circle...
then the actual "lip" parts the top part was a triangular part just decreased from a foundation row...
the bottom of the top lip is connected to the top of the bottom lip as a circle...
the fins were triangle also. the back fins were the hardest to mimic.... those are done in spirals...
hope this helps!!!

let me know if you have any questions.
