I have been away from my sewing machine for over 8 months and just sat down with it recently. I haven't made much other than use a pattern I made back in March. Here are some of the DS Lite cozies and pouches that I made:

As a student, it was hard to justify spending $100 on a plush as a Christmas present. Instead, I decided to make a trip to Michaels and buy supplies to make my own version. The dimensions of the cube are approximately 15cm x 15cm x 15cm, and I stuffed it until no more polyfil could be stuffed. Yay for cuddly objects!

This was the product of 7 hours of hand stitching corners, faces of a cube, and cube face details.


Another 20 minutes later, I had the final pink lines added & finished the cube!

I haven't posted in a while, but I thought I would share with you what I've been making recently. These are my favourite pieces that I've made within the last month. I hope you like them as much as I enjoyed making them!


This necklace was made from a brown agate stone, freshwater pearl, and stealing silver chain.


I have a thing for pearl necklaces, however, I'm also a huge fan of big clasps. I made a simple white faux-pearl necklace with a gorgeous vine-leaf toggle clasp.


This is a similar necklace to the one above, but in magenta.

i was all moody on Wednesday because my interview for a job went horribly, and one of my friends put me in an awkward position. To compensate for my crappy day, i decided to design a new stencil. I wanted something plain and simple, but cute at the same time. This is what i came up with:

I used metallic pink paint, and the metallic white paint didn't turn out too well. it looks like sky blue paint. :\

the stencil was painted on the bottom left hand corner of my shirt. When i wore it out on Thursday, my friend said to me, "you know, you're heart's not there. Your appendix is. Did you know your appendix is a vestigial feature?" (she's a biology nerd) hahaha. sorry. just thought i'd share that story.

this is the first shirt i've ever made from scratch. Basically, i bought 2 metres of stretchy cotton knit material (it was only $1/metre) and started sewing. I didn't really take any measurements, i just went along with my gut instinct.

THis tank top was originally supposed to be a halter top, but the straps turned out a lot thicker than i wanted them to be, so i just made it into a tank top. The bow was an added extra at the last minute. I attached a safety pin to the back of it so it's removable. I'm not too sure if i like it or not. What do you think? Should i keep the bow or take it off? (and if you think i should take it off, do you think i should stencil anything onto the top to make it less boring?)

i've been sewing by hand for most of my life. About 3 weeks ago, i got my mom to teach me how to use a sewing machine (for the 3rd time). Since then, i've been sewing crazy!

Using the Jordy bag totorial, here's what i coughed up within the last 2 weeks:


My favourite: watermelon tote! (this was the third bag that i made, and i was thrilled with the result)





i stenciled a little black bird onto this one.

i'm currently scouting out places to reasonably priced fabric from to make purses. So far, the only two places i know of in my area (markham) are Fabricland, Walmart and Bou Clair. I can commute to the downtown Toronto area if needed.

any suggestions?
