1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: Help Needed with Website Store! on: August 17, 2005 04:26:51 PM
I recommend checking out www.doteasy.com I signed up with them about a year ago and have not had any problems. I have also been impressed with there technical support.
They offer a few different plans, 1 is free hosting which is great if you want to start out small, all you pay is the registration fee which is about 35.00
there second plan is 7.95 a month which is what I have and it provides you with 1000mb disk storage
and there third plan is 9.95 a month which gives you 20gb of monthly disk storage.

This company is based in B.C. and all prices listed above are in Canadian dollars.
Hope this helps.

Not sure if you have solved your image problem yet but I also use doteasy and have found them to be very helpful and quick to respond to questions if you email them your problems. I would recommend asking them for help if you are still having difficulty uploading your images.

I would recommend checking out this link http://www.cbsc.org/alberta/main.cfm to answer all of your questions regarding business start-up in Alberta. It is a government Canada site and has loads of information about starting a business and has a lot of links to other related sites.
You should be able to find out wether or not you need to register a business name and you might be able to do so on line. Here in Ontario they offer that service anyway.
I hope this helps. Good luck!

I would also recommend writing a business even if it is just for yourself and not intended for approaching banks for loans etc. They are very helpful in figuring out where you want to take your business, who your market is/will be, how to reach your target market etc. It is also very helpful from the financial side of things. A business plan can help you figure out how much money you will need, how much you are spending, what and where you should be spending your money on, how much you will need to make each month to cover expenses and how much to sell your products for.
As JenRed mentioned, I would recommend checking out a few different business plan examples from books and the net and taking parts from each that work best for you.
Library's are a fantastic source if not a bit overwhelming but from my own past experience I have gone to different banks websites, they tend to have a section on starting a small business with sample business plans included.
I am in Canada and have found the Royal Banks site very helpful. http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/sme/index.html

Good luck writing that Plan! it can seem like an overwhelming task at times but is worth it in the end.
