1  Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding Cross Stitches in Needlework: Completed Projects by HugsAreFun on: April 20, 2015 09:41:29 PM

A few months ago I saw a Kickstarter campaign to make a Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding museum in a Brooklyn apartment. I threw them $5 and jokingly tweeted asking if they were taking submissions. She sent me a message back and said they definitely wanted some cross stitches. My husband designed them and I got to stitching.

They started out as a joke but quickly turned into the most glorious thing I've ever made.

2  Rainbow iPhone Case! in Needlework: Completed Projects by HugsAreFun on: March 04, 2015 07:17:33 PM

I finally finished a cross stitch iPhone case! I had one for my iPhone 5S and then I got an iPhone 6 and had to make a new one.

So I went for a rainbow!

3  Cross Stitchng with LEDs! in Needlework: Completed Projects by HugsAreFun on: September 03, 2014 09:50:59 PM

I tried my hand at cross stitching LEDs. I stitched up Saturn for it and used the LEDs as stars. It was a fun experiment but they were a lot more difficult to use than I expected!

I made these for my friend's children. I am currently obsessed with water soluble canvas, I love being able to cross stitch onto any fabric!

I made a color wheel out of French knots. I am kind of in love with them now.

I blogged about it here http://hugsarefun.com/french-knot-color-wheel/

6  Solar System Cross Stitch Hoop in Needlework: Completed Projects by HugsAreFun on: June 09, 2014 11:55:39 AM
I made this for a swap, the theme was "places" and I decided that the solar system counted!

I stitched it on a subtly printed black cotton fabric and used water soluble canvas. It's my new favorite thing, it's amazing! I want to stitch everything on it!

7  Dandelion Puff Embroidery in Needlework: Completed Projects by HugsAreFun on: May 21, 2014 05:03:58 PM

I made this for a flower themed link up. I usually do cross stitch but lately I've been delving more into embroidery, and I've been a little French knot obsessed. I love the texture that comes from huge bunches of them.

8  Googly Eye Monster Embroideries in Needlework: Completed Projects by HugsAreFun on: May 05, 2014 12:33:15 PM

I made these for my friend's daughter's first birthday. She had a monster themed party so I drew up a couple to embroidery. I used hot glue to attach the goggly eyes, I think it added a fun touch to them.

9  Hugs are Fun Doodle Stitchalong in Needlework: Stitchalongs by HugsAreFun on: April 22, 2014 07:26:57 PM

Who is up for a Doodle Stitchalong?

Global Moderator Comment
In collaboration with Hugs are Fun we are doing this awesome stitchalong! Post your pics and progress here and on May 16th there will be a drawing for your very own Craftster Skully T-shirt!

I bought this pillow from IKEA with the intention of doodle stitching on the printed lines. People seemed really interested in the idea so I started a stitch along. It's super relaxing and low pressure but I've really been enjoying experimenting with stitches and colors. I am a cross stitcher at heart, but have been doing more embroidery lately. This project has been a great way to practice.

10  Plastic Canvas Baby Blocks in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by HugsAreFun on: April 17, 2014 04:49:09 PM

I participated in a plastic canvas blog hop and I made baby blocks. I had never used plastic canvas before but I really enjoyed it. I stitched on them with cotton yarn and stuffed them with polyfil and put bells inside.

I have a PDF of all the patterns for the different designs on my blog. http://hugsarefun.com/plastic-canvas-blog-hop-baby-blocks/
