21  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Drawstring Bag (My first sewing project) on: September 05, 2005 01:52:06 PM
that's so cute and a great first project for a new machine.  I keep thinking I'm going to make some drawstring bags for gifts, but never actually get around to it.  Thanks for sharing!
22  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Re: Fat girls and skirts.... on: September 03, 2005 10:21:52 PM

By the way, does anybody else have the thighs rubbing together to create a painful rash issue when wearing skirts. I've tried bike shorts (cinch in the waist and bulk you up), constant tight wearing (again with the waist cinching and too hot in summer) and baby powder (this is my favorite, but is annoying to constantly reapply and you WILL spill it on your black clothing).

Not sure if you are in the US or not, but I've seen commericals for a new product by Monistat (Johnson & Johnson company) specifically for chafing.  Check out the website - if you're in the US, they'll send you a free sample.  I'd buy it if it works!  I ordered the sample, so we'll see!

Oh, the link:  http://www.soothingcare.com/soothingcare/index_soothing.htm

Hope it helps!
23  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Re: THE ETHICS OF ORDERING FREE SAMPLES on: September 03, 2005 09:04:44 PM
I have to say I agree that ordering all the free samples out there is a bit much, but you never know when someone will be interested in something.  Such as the floor samples - yes, I ordered some.  I've been struggling with asthma and allergies and now CFS for some time.  I replaced some carpet with the laminate flooring and am considering replacing the rest....had I not seen the information on here I would have not considered hardwood floors.

I think we just have to decide for ourselves and hey, if anyone has free samples they won't use - offer to swap with someone else that would like to use the sample.

Also have to say I LOVE the distinctive fabrics website, have already ordered fabric and the customer service has been wonderful!
24  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Law and Order Swap Round Two? on: September 03, 2005 08:49:22 PM
Will you post here when the swap is "official"?  I seem to miss the signup posts for some reason.  Thanks!
25  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: it's a sexy polka dot day! on: August 23, 2005 04:37:08 AM
Very nice!  I'm especially impressed with the dress - no pattern?!  Someday I hope to be able to do that.  The dress looks very nice on, accentuates the curves without being over the top.  Thank you for sharing.

Very nicely done!  I especially like the curved chair - looks great and I'd have never guessed it wasn't that way when you bought it!!!
27  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Re: What is Batik? on: August 20, 2005 08:28:13 PM
check out the info on www.DharmaTrading.com - I got a beginners kit (haven't tried it yet) with everything included for a first timer (except fabric)
28  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Animal Product-free Mascara and other drugstore cosmetics (Almay?) on: August 20, 2005 08:26:04 PM
I am an Avon Rep. and I'll check with the company to see if there are animal products in any of the cosmetics.  You've got me curious too!
29  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Show off your hair! on: August 20, 2005 03:23:55 AM
OK, I finally got around to getting the digital camera from my dad.  Here is my haircolor as it is currently.  The blue is really brighter and deeper, but my computer wouldn't cooperate.  It's more like Kentucky Blue (UK fans will recognize it!)

I think I'm going to switch to black with orange sometime this weekend.  My niece is a cheerleader for my former high school and the colors are orange and black - might be fun to freak out some parents and some of my former classmates!

Sorry about the bad pic - I really just woke up and took the picture.  It looks a lot better when it's styled.

This one:

shows the color a little better.  Anyway, not sure how long it will last, but I guess that's why my friends say I have "mood hair" instead of the mood rings!

very cute!  You did a terrific job and kudos for turning "pants" into a "bag".  Sounds like you used what you had available and created a masterpiece!
