1  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Beauty Sercrets Here on: March 06, 2006 10:13:37 PM
Does anyone have any ideas for really, and I mean really, curly hair?

I have a friend that has very, very curly hair.  She goes to a hairdresser that specializes in curly hair.  She also doesn't use shampoo very ofter, but conditions every day.  Shampooing removes the natural oils and most curly haired gals need the oil to prevent the frizzies.  It takes longer for the natural oils to travel down the curly hair than straight.

She also only combs her hair in the shower when wet, then blots with a towel adds some styling product and doesn't touch it after that.  Any more combing and she'd have a big knotty mess!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: A warm gift for a SAD time on: March 06, 2006 09:42:30 PM
So sorry to hear of your loss - my grandmother passed away a few weeks ago.  She lived next door to us for almost 30 years, so I understand the sad occasion.  I've not given anything specifically, but I did make copies of the memory dvd and music cd the funeral home made for us.  We now all have pics of my grandmother from childhood to her 90th birthday party.  I'm sure your mother will appreciate the gift now more than ever.
3  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Re: good hat tutorial... on: March 06, 2006 08:58:57 PM
very cute!  Thanks!  cute hat and the tutorial is very funny - makes me want to make a hat!
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Sha Sha Ribbon Dream Purse ~ TUTORIAL as requested on: March 05, 2006 09:23:37 PM
But I have to add that my favorite part of your tutorial was the pics that included a beer - because I do the exact same thing!  It's my favorite part of sewing.  Put Toddler to bed, and pull up a beer to my sewing machine!!

Too funny!  I didn't even notice the beer in the pics - good eye!   Hmmmmm, I have some wine up here somewhere, where did I put the corkscrew?!

very cute!  I have the pattern from the other bag tutorial you posted and have yet to make the bag - even have the fabric!  I'll have to try this - my (now) 5 year old niece is always looking for crafts to do when I go over and she'd probably love the weaving part of it!  I'll probably use wider ribbons for her, but she'd get a kick out of carrying a bag "she" made!  Thank you so much for posting this and if we ever get it done, I'll post of pic of her with her bag!
6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: Don't iron the carpet on: March 05, 2006 08:40:24 PM
Funny stories!  I've never accidentally ironed the carpet, but I had a spot on my new carpet when I moved into my new condo (this is quite a few years ago) and decided to get it out with water.  Stupid me then decides to use the hairdryer to dry the wet carpet.  I ended up with a nice melted spot (luckily it was where the closet door sits when closed) in my bedroom.  DUH!!!  What was I thinking?
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: Damn Pesky Machines - Or why not to loan sewing machines to non-sewers on: March 05, 2006 08:34:45 PM
To all those with the sewing machine/crafting woes (hahaha - didn't know I could rhyme this late!), I'm sorry you've had to deal with the frustrations.  It does make me glad that my family can fully admit they are not crafty nor handy - of course the downfall.....they ask me to make it, fix it, embellish it.  My list just gets longer and longer and now it's spreading to friends of relatives!  If anyone broke anything in my craft room - there would be blood spilt (and it won't be mine!).
8  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: Sheep Shed Studio on: March 05, 2006 06:48:14 PM
Ok, you got me!  I ordered a couple of pounds (and I'm not even a spinner/weaver/felter)!  I figured it might be fun to try felting with my nieces and nephews - they always want to do "a craft" when they come over so I'm always looking for things little hands can do.  It should be fun!  Thanks for yet another addiction (and I'm not trying to be funny), I do appreciate it!!!

very cute idea - I'm sure every child has memories that your book brings back.  you did a terrific job!!
10  UNITED STATES / South Carolina / Re: Myrtle Beach??? on: March 04, 2006 09:25:46 PM
Oh, I miss Myrtle Beach!  I moved back to Ohio a few years ago and do NOT like the winter weather!  I still have my condo down there and visit quite often.  I still feel like all my friends are at the Beach, which is funny considering this little Ohio town is where I grew up and graduated from high school.  I still call Myrtle Beach "home".  I guess the next time I'll be down is spring break - have to make it through March Madness first.  I'm so jealous, I really miss my condo!
