1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Fitted jacket for winter on: September 09, 2012 01:21:29 PM
Iwe reasently becom a pluss size. I still want to look great, but I find it hard, not because im so unhappy with my body, but with the clothes awailable. I want to wear flatering clothes but someone have desided that pluss size women dont have a shape. I have boobs, a waist and hips, yes i have a tummy to, and its rounder than it used to be, but i still have a shape. The "normal" sewing patterns that covers my size dont take in to acount that i have boobs, and hips and dont turn out right. They have funny bulks and dont drape the way they should, the pluss size patterns iwe found dont seem to have the right shape for my boddy. the tops and dresses hangs of the boobs and camuflage my tummy, but i loose my shape. This summer i trew away to dresses i made, ended up making a pattern for a skirt i thought loked great, and harem pants out of my own head. No i need a winter jacket, i live in norway and winter is on its way but altering a jacket patern in far to dificult for me so im hoping for some great pattern ideas
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Patter making on: September 09, 2012 04:41:29 AM
After 15 years of not sewing i found my sewing machine and dusted it of. I have made clothes, but my head is so full of ideas, and i cant find patterns close enough for me to have the skill to alter them. I also feal that with that level of alterations i would benefitt from learning to make my own patterns. So i need books, probably a lot of books, but what books to by, ore/and what online clases to take. I have loked at Pattern magic, drape drape and Pattern making (portfolio skills) on amazon, but i dont know if they are good, and if they would give me the understanding i need to design clothes ore if they would teatch me to make the clotes in the books. Hope that makes sens...i also want to learn to rub of patterns
