1  Re: HP Craftalong ~Fall Semester 2013~ *join anytime* in Craftalongs by 3plyproblem on: October 19, 2013 05:51:07 AM
(Before I forget, my name's changed from consultingcorsair to 3plyproblem)
I just spent the last couple of hours going through all that I'd missed on here, and wow!  Shocked You've all made so many wonderful things, it's really inspiring.
I've had my first class ready to share for a couple of weeks now. I need to be less forgetful or I'll end up with Detention, heh!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: CoMC
House: Hufflepuff!
Project Name: Homesick Slippers
Project Page Link: N/A
Brief Description: I knitted these slippers as a gift for one of my dear friends, who's just started her second year at university. She's from up North but goes to uni quite close to where I live. Hopefully these slippers will keep her feet warm when her halls get cold, and help her cope with the harder times of being so far from her family. (Like noodle-bug, I got caught out by the variegated yarn, so my friend will be getting one orange slipper and one blue one! It's my favourite yarn ever, though, and super-cosy, so it could be worse.)

Do I get bonus points for wrapping them in tissue paper from the Harry Potter Studio Tours?  Wink

Bloody hell, you lot are brilliant! Twelve days in and over 30 pages of stunning work. It's worn me out just looking through them. I'm so glad to be back at Hogwarts again...  Grin

Thank you to the people who complimented my Zombie doll in the Fall Semester thread! Cheesy My bff loves him (as did many others, to whom I had to shout "NO NEVER AGAIN" when they asked me for one, because I value my sanity!  :'))

Anyway, to make up for my late arrival, here's my first project!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Alchemy (& Ravenclaw Quidditch Practice?)
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Quidditch Colours Fingerless Gloves
Brief Description: I went to my first muggle Quidditch match earlier this month, to support my friend's university team, the Reading Rocs, whose kit colours are red, black and gold. So it was a neat fit for my Alchemy homework (not to mention Quidditch practice! I reckon they'd be handy for a Chaser...  Wink) So I knitted myself up a pair of fingerless gloves to show my support. Although the weather was freezing, and the second game lasted over an hour due to an incredibly tricky Snitch, so my fingers were almost falling off by the end! I think next time I'll make proper mittens...

It's just gone midnight here, so technically it's the 30th, but I finished him on the 29th, so I DID IT! My Zombie doll is done! Excuse me whilst I collapse of exhaustion...

Class/Challenge/House Pride: November Detention
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Gallahad Ringo Harry Zombie Doll
Brief Description: A fully poseable wire frame, a mixture of hand and machine stitching (mostly hand), and a ridiculous amount of felt and time. He's sitting in a giftbag waiting to be given to my best friend, whose birthday it is on the last day of the fall semester. I'm so very glad to be finished with this, as it was so much work! He's the most complicated thing, other than a garment, that I've made. I'm very proud of him, too, though he isn't perfect. I just really hope she likes him!

I still need to catch up on the last couple of pages, but everyone's crafts still look fantastic! So many lovely things I can't point them all out, but @indigo_roses, your yarns looked gorgeous! The knitter in me just wants to grab them from the screen...  Tongue

@pinkleo - Wow, that is alot of hats.  Shocked And they're adorable!

@patty_o, @jennieingram and @Abbeeroad - I love all of your projects! So Christmassy...  Cheesy

I wish I could indulge in a little festive crafting myself, but I'm working on my November Detention and I won't let anything distract me! I finished the head today, with handsewing, a lot of felt, and the help of my good friend contact adhesive. Wink I'm considering changing the mouth, but otherwise I think he's coming along splendidly - though we'll see what happens when I start on the body!

This is what I've done so far for my Detention. It's going to be a doll of Zombie from the webcomic 'Hanna Is Not A Boy's Name', will stand at about a metre tall, and have a wire frame inside to make him fully poseable. I've never done anything like it before, so we'll see how it goes!
