1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: Family on: September 30, 2012 05:56:27 PM
I'm actually going to do the second one on white cotton. I started out with two strands of DMC, but switched to one closer to the end. However, when I used one thread, I was covering a smaller area (the tail and chains)

My brother's getting married in November and as a present for him and his soon-to-be wife, I wanted to embroider our family crest. Our heritage has always been important to us and it's the best way I can think of to welcome her into our family. This is just my practice piece. I had to try it out first. You can't tell very well from this picture, but a lot of my threads are loose from using a satin stitch. I was thinking of using a long and short stitch instead??? Any ideas?

What amazing beadwork! I vote for Briar Rose, but just because she's my favorite. The Snow Queen would could be really neat as well.

Amazing. I agree with the comment about the crayon. I think it gives it a really cool effect.

Good job! As I am also in love with all of the Harry Potter books (including the mini "text books"), I'm jealous.
