I immediately thought of The Princess Bride. You look like a fairytale, miss! Hope you had a wonderful time at your prom. I wish I'd been half as crafty as you when I was in high school.  Grin

8  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Stegosaurus cake! on: April 28, 2008 07:21:32 AM
do you know who this is???  Grin

Just my favorite library coworker EVER! Ladies and gentlemen, this woman keeps circular needles in her bag at all times and brings her handspun yarn to work.  Grin

Does that mean you got to eat it all by yourself with a fork right off the cake plate too?!

Actually, I bit its head off.

did he taste good?

No, it tasted like cake. Unfortunately, I don't like cake. I do like to make stuff with it, though.  Cheesy

Thanks, everyone! If you haven't tried to make a 3D cake, go for it. As I said, I'd never made something like this before, and I used cheapo box mix and icing. The most important thing to do is allow the cake to cool completely. I also cut shapes from construction paper before cutting up the actual cake to help me see how the parts would go together.

9  COOKING / Dessert / Stegosaurus cake! on: April 09, 2008 01:52:14 PM
I made a stegosaurus cake for my 27th birthday. Why? Because I'm an adult now, and that means I can do whatever I want, which means I can have a dinosaur cake. Uhh... right?  Grin

This is the first "3d" cake I've ever made. It's basically two 8" rounds of yellow cake cut into shapes and secured with fruit skewers and icing. I wanted to use funfetti, but was afraid that would fall apart. The icing was just plain vanilla, colored with food coloring. The back plates are Oreo 100 calorie pack thin crisps, and the toes/ tail spikes are pieces of Pocky. And the stegosaurus is the most noble of all god's creatures.

Thanks for looking!
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Amigurumi Swap Gallery on: March 27, 2008 07:25:15 AM
Thanks! I had a lot of fun trying to make different expressions on the food. Do you think I should`ve put a face on the pie?

I received from HootHootHope, too! My phone takes awful pictures, so I`m just waiting for a friend to come over with her camera. I don`t want to spoil the surprise for the rest of you,  Wink but I will say that it is awesome!

You guys are talking me into buying that amigurumi book. :-)
