1  Stegosaurus cake! in Dessert by AModernMantra on: April 09, 2008 01:52:14 PM
I made a stegosaurus cake for my 27th birthday. Why? Because I'm an adult now, and that means I can do whatever I want, which means I can have a dinosaur cake. Uhh... right?  Grin

This is the first "3d" cake I've ever made. It's basically two 8" rounds of yellow cake cut into shapes and secured with fruit skewers and icing. I wanted to use funfetti, but was afraid that would fall apart. The icing was just plain vanilla, colored with food coloring. The back plates are Oreo 100 calorie pack thin crisps, and the toes/ tail spikes are pieces of Pocky. And the stegosaurus is the most noble of all god's creatures.

Thanks for looking!

We're on the third round of the Rapunzel yarn swap, if anyone's interested. :-D Here's my scarf from round 1.

I came looking for a pic of the knickers I sent to show a friend, and there aren't any!  Embarrassed Awww! Varandra, any chance you can get some pictures? Unfortunately, I didn't take finished pictures of everything, and now I wish I had. (I'm eternally low on batteries, ergh.)

Varandra had sent me white boy shorts, gray boy shorts, and a black sports bra. On the white shorts, I embroidered white flowers with white stems and sewed a white lace/ribbon trim around the legs. IMHO, it looked wonderful, and I wish I had taken a picture! :-) On the gray shorts, I embroidered an owl because she likes them. These were my first embroidery projects; as more experienced people can probably tell, I only knew a few stitches. I was pleased with the result, though! On the sports bra, I stenciled green vines and leaves from the back over the shoulder to the front.

Here's the owlie! :-) And here's hoping my partner can eventually post some pics of the rest!

I went on a picnic yesterday & took my yarn with me. No kitties in the park!  Cheesy Thanks to all my partners for the yarn & here it is, my lovely spring scarf!

Who sent the white ribbon with the little flower print? That became the basis for this whole thing!  Smiley The colors work really well together, in my opinion. Isn't it awesome how these scarves work out?!  Grin Can't wait to make another!

Pics finally, yay! Thanks so much to my awesome partner, Varandra!

I opened the package and saw...Oh, NO! A monster has eaten my knickers! Give that back, monster!

After a fearful struggle, I managed to rescue the panties. *whew* This monster has delightfully kitschy taste!

Cheesy Ruffles on the back of the purple ones, and a comic on the front of the black ones! The back of the black ones has a little lace-up black ribbon. The bra has gold sequins and gold/black straps that interchange with extra-tacky kitschy straps. I laughed SO much at this; I love it. Grin The comic is a GREAT idea for the panties, too! I'm going to carefully handwash these. Thanks so much for the wonderful swap, Varandra!

Edit: WHOA, norianai! Those red ones are fantastic. What a perfect quote for red lace-up panties. ;-)

Here's my yarn from iloveoctopus!

The thicker creamish colored yarn on the right has been braided together with some thinner yarns, and looks really good. You know... it takes a long time to braid these lengths! :-D

Aww, cute pics of the turtles! I'm glad they're finally gone... in new homes.  Grin I took some of the massive army together, but I used (gasp) actual film, so it'll be awhile before I have those. SewingLori, looks like your pink one got squished in the mail! All of them should be able to stand up on their own; they just might need their stuffing poked around.  Grin

Here are... three knitted washcloths from Kayrun (the green one has a pear and the red is a ladybug!), a robot and a rocketship from IamSusie, a set of handstamped lovenotes from Glittergirl94 (the "ballons" one is my favorite), two nestlaces (one as part of a personal swap) from Cyndiq, and a needlebook from Igobylorib (purple!!). Thanks again to my partners! Everything is wonderful.  Smiley

Cyndiq & I did a personal swap in addition to being part of Sweat Shop Swap 7. I made her two crochet turtles and she sent me a second nestlace. Her nestlaces are beautiful! My pic isn't the greatest, but there are better ones of her stuff in the SSS 7 gallery. :-)

She makes these beautiful nests with bead eggs and sends them in little bags embroidered with birds. I loved the little card, too! Thank-you, cyndiq!

Knitwit, how do you take such good pictures of yarn? I'm such a terrible photographer! :-D Here is my dismal picture of some actually very pretty yarn & ribbon!

I'll have to edit when I'm home tonight to pair the right partner's names with the yarn. :-)
