2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Jelly Bean painting on: August 21, 2012 11:26:45 PM
I had no idea jelly beans were so archival! That in itself will be enough to keep me from eating them again... they can't be too good in the stomach then!

Looks great- very impressed!

Better pictures PLEEEZ!!! This is super-cool and deserves to be shot well! Or is it gone because of the swap? Have the new owner take a snap!

I've used both Sharpies and paint markers on helmets. It's more the clear coat that you put over than what you actually draw with that matters.

This is fantastic! Love to go for a ride together sometime! haha
5  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Completed Projects / Re: Solar dyeing fun on: August 21, 2012 09:19:47 PM
Have you tried Lumi dye? I just heard of it and it's a solar process that allows you to put photos on fabric and I've been dying to see some real people using it.
6  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Completed Projects / Re: Tie Dye & Batik - 1st time! on: August 21, 2012 09:18:07 PM
Can you share the brands of dye and wax she gave you? Always wanted to try batik!

Did you dip-dye as shirts or as yarn?
8  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Completed Projects / Re: Faux Batik (with tutorial) lots of pics on: August 21, 2012 09:15:15 PM
TEA-CHART! So funny- love it.

Has anyone tried this with spray dyes or rit with lots of water in a spray bottle, rather than brushing?
9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Wearable Sculpture on: August 21, 2012 04:18:48 PM
I know, wearable sculpture makes a lot of people say "HUH?!". But what it is is really in the name. It's beyond couture; it can be displayed on pedestals, mannequins, or live human beings.

I have work in this year's World of Wearable Art in Wellington, NZ, but can't display any images of the piece yet! However, here's what I showed there last year. It was in a section titled "Under the Microscope" and is based on brain chemistry.

I printed the fabric myself with an etching press (see detail of printed fabric) using a collagraph method. I drew the same images on the leathery material for the feet. Models can see out of the cotton fabric up at the face area. I'll probably put up a tutorial that shows some of the process including the sketching- let me know if you'd like to see that!
