1  Wearable Sculpture in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by morganculture on: August 21, 2012 04:18:48 PM
I know, wearable sculpture makes a lot of people say "HUH?!". But what it is is really in the name. It's beyond couture; it can be displayed on pedestals, mannequins, or live human beings.

I have work in this year's World of Wearable Art in Wellington, NZ, but can't display any images of the piece yet! However, here's what I showed there last year. It was in a section titled "Under the Microscope" and is based on brain chemistry.

I printed the fabric myself with an etching press (see detail of printed fabric) using a collagraph method. I drew the same images on the leathery material for the feet. Models can see out of the cotton fabric up at the face area. I'll probably put up a tutorial that shows some of the process including the sketching- let me know if you'd like to see that!
