1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: One Awesome Harry Potter Thing R2 (OAHPT) (SU CLOSED;SO July 11) on: June 26, 2015 01:45:47 PM
Thanks mistress J Smiley I got the fright of my life when my post office quoted me $120 to send my original idea, so back to the drawing board. The joys of living in small town NZ at the bottom of the world haha

Just wondering how strict the one awesome thing is? Can it be a few things that make up one thing (ie matching necklace and earrings) or does it just have to be The One Thing

Smiley Thanks

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Apparition
House: HufflePuff
Project Name: The Pastel Goth Cake
Brief Description: So I had my 28th last weekend, and I was absolutely determined to make my own birthday cake. This cake took me about six hours to make! It was my very first multi layer cake, and cake i decorated 'properly'. I made my hubby buy me a  bunch of proper decorating tools to try and get a smooth icing finish rather than rely on a butter knife.

First I made four chocolate mud cakes. Once they had cooled down, I trimmed them so they had flat tops and filled them with a layer of chocolate ganache.

Then I made a sour cherry buttercream icing and iced the cake making sure to do a proper crumb layer. Once that was done and set, I got to dribble a chocolate glaze over the top (I cheated here and used a storebought glaze). Then decorated the cake with my favourite junk foods and purple icing bits every where.

They are so gorgeous! I can't wait to go to WGT one day. I'm hoping in the next two years - living in New Zealand makes travel so expensive though haha

Class: Charms
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Geo watercolor heart
Project Page Link (if available): N/A
Brief Description: I painted geo / diamond 'shapes' in watercolor then 'froze' my art in a glass cabochon pendant. This was my second time attempting one of these, and I'm not sure I'm using the right glue, but I'm pretty proud of the painting side of it Cheesy

7  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Discussion and Questions / Gold foil / Gold luster on: June 02, 2015 02:13:16 AM
Hi everyone Smiley Sorry if this is in the wrong spot - I hope it's not.

I have been spending alot of my crafting time painted porcelain cups and I really want to start adding gold on to my designs, but alot of the bake on gold paints are super metalic rather than the super shiny gold foil look.

Is there are particular paint for this or would you use gold leaf? If you use gold leaf what seal would you use that is not toxic?

Many thanks
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Help with lining and inner corsets on: April 16, 2013 03:17:21 AM
Hello lovlies!

I am having alot of trouble understanding lining, and creating an inner-corset.

Could you recommend some patterns that have an inner corset so I can practise my sewing skills?

Many thanks Smiley and apologies if this has been asked before - I cannot find what I am looking for anywhere

I am totally doing this with my DF t-shirt! Amazing Smiley

Are the AFI logo's patches or how did you work it with the boning so there are no bumpy bits? (I hope that makes sense - I have dyspraxia so my written language is not the best)
