1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / New/Old Chair on: May 28, 2013 05:24:30 AM
I've never redone a piece of furniture before, but this chair caught my attention at an event last week - long, weird story. Anyway, they were actually going to throw it away, and I just couldn't let that happen. It was solid wood and had great lines. What were they thinking?!

So I took it home in the backseat of my car - quite a tight fit - and repainted, repadded, and recovered the thing.

Here's the "before":

And the "after":

A closeup of the fabric I used (40% off at Hobby Lobby - woohoo!):

I have no idea how old this chair is, but it'd had new fabric put on four different times! I pulled staples FOR EVER.

C&C very welcome. I had no idea what I was doing on this, but just kind of made it up as I went along. How'd I do?  Roll Eyes

Thank you so much!  Grin

Ha ha - no. It's funny cause it's only 5" by 7" (the picture-viewing part, anyway). It's just a really old picture frame I found at a junk shop for $1. Can you believe it? I fell in love with it instantly, and knew it had to have some stitched madness in it. Not sure if this pattern goes as well with it as I'd like, though.

Thanks for the lovely comments!

Please, please ignore my hideous, horrible photo cropping skills.  Embarrassed

Just finished this last night and couldn't wait to share!

I got the pattern from bombastitch on etsy. It went fairly quickly, all things considered.

I hunted for a pattern specifically for this frame, and I'm not sure the colors of the eye go well enough with the frame. I've almost decided to repaint the frame, but it is vintage, so I'm torn. Opinions?

C&C welcome as always!

Please, do post to FB, as I have no FB account (long story there!). I'm trying to figure out how to post on their Twitter. Advice?

ETA: Figured it out. Check out the tweet here: https://twitter.com/butterflie0405/status/324558334441160705/photo/1

Thanks for all your (too) kind words! I can't decide if I chose the right blue, and it's been bugging me. The photo colors are pretty accurate - what do you think?

Just completed and framed yesterday - love it! I created the pattern myself (the old-fashioned way, graph paper, as I have no stitch software. UGH).

Voila!

My favorite episode of Psych, ever, is American Duos. Tim Curry is HYSTERICAL. This is one of his lines from that episode, and the origin of the name "Blueberry" for Gus's car:

(Please ignore my dirty stove in the background...I was excited, okay? Oh, you noticed that already? FINE. Your noticing has been noticed.)

I may have to do a mirror image of the Echo, with the inscription, "This car makes me want to weep, and then die." Hahaha!

Comments and criticism are most welcome!
