I am afraid of clowns, but I looked anyway! (I appreciate the warning, so I could prepare myself). What a great project and so well crafted, even if I can't look at it for long. Oh well, if I have nightmares I have only myself to blame! Nice job!

They turned out really nice! I love the colors you used, and you did a great job distressing them so they really look vintage!

Thanks, everyone for all the nice words!

craftADDchick: I am so happy that you are going to make one too! Check the dimensions of your Rubik's cube carefully against my measurements. The one that I altered seemed smaller than the original one I had years ago. Or maybe I'm just bigger now! LOL. I love that you have a Spirograph too! I was as excited to buy it off eBay as I was when I got it as a child, maybe more so! This is the first chance I've had to use it in a project, but now I'm thinking that these mandalas will be showing up in my art journal pages too! Smiley

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share my latest altered project: I altered a Rubik's cube!

Anyone here besides me old enough to remember the Spirograph? It was my favorite toy as a child, and I was able to find one on eBay! I decided to use it to create the images that I put on each side of the Altered Rubik's Cube. I drew the images with a fine point black marker on watercolor paper, then used watercolors to paint each image.

If you'd like a tutorial, I have one posted on my blog at http://www.alteredarts.net/altered-rubiks-cube

I'd love to know what you think.

Thanks for looking!
Kathleen

Oh my goodness! That is the coolest thing I've ever seen!

I can't believe how perfectly you got the shape and the bow on the back is perfection. Amazing.
