1  Starbucks Journal in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by StaticMonster on: April 17, 2014 10:45:42 AM
Hello, and thank you for stopping by to check out my little craft. I wanted to share a journal that I made out of recycled materials.

The cover of the book is made out of a popcorn box, and the paper on the outside of it is a paper bag from Starbucks.

The pages are just plain copy paper that I tea dyed and baked in the oven. Altogether I ended up with 35 pages (70 once folded in half; 7 signatures, each containing 5 sheets of paper).

I sewed the journal, and used jute string. I would definitely not recommend that type of string because it "sheds" a lot. Also, it tends to thin out the more you pull on it; and you will pull on it a lot in the process of bookbinding. However, it was what I had on hand, and it did the job.

The 'Starbucks' label on the inside is also from the bag, as well as the brown banner. The black banner is left over scrap from the inside cover.

I still have a lot of embellishing to do on my journal, but I'm pretty pleased with my first attempt. I think this is my new favorite craft. I've collected quite a bit of paper over the past couple of years, and now I know what to do with it. Plus, I'm a big notebook fan, but I can never find one to suit me, so it's great that I can make my own!

I hope you enjoyed my project! Thank you again for stopping by. Have a great day (today and everyday)!

2  Re: NeedleBook Rd2 Swap - Gallery - SO 06/24 in The Swap Gallery by StaticMonster on: July 04, 2013 01:38:38 PM
Below is my super cute fox needlebook from Thimbles71!!! I love little woodland animals.

The needlebook has a snap closure, which is perfect, because I have a tendency to bend my books and set in creases. This little closure will help me keep my needlebook wrinkle free!

Thank you bunches and bunches, Thimbles! I'm going to take this little guy with me everywhere for my little sewing projects! He's too cute! =D I think I might try to make a whole set of things with him on it. o:

I received my package from Avesthel today!

First, look at this beautiful potions ornament she sent me! It's very unique!

Next, the loveliest charm bracelet! It's so beautiful, and I've always wanted one!

Close up:

Avesthel put so much thought into this. She used Slytherin colored beads to represent my house, and she added charms to represent each year at Hogwarts, in addition to the stuff I really liked.

Here's a list of the charms:

Owl - Owl Post, Pigwidgeon (Who 1st appeared in POA - which happens to be my favorite movie)
Polyjuice Potion - There are lots of potions on this bracelet because I like potion making!
S - for Slytherin
Sleeping Draught
Ship - for Triwizard Tournament
Castle - Hogwarts
Sorcerer's Stone
Amortentia
Spider - Aragog
Veritaserum
Phoenix - my (and Avesthel's) favorite magical creature
Draught of Peace
Fairy - Christmas fairy lights and Care of Magical Creatures (which is a class I'd LOVE to take)
Draught of Living Death
Doe - Snape's Patronus
Golden Snitch

Thank you so much, Avesthel! I love it!!! <3

*Sorry the picture of the bracelet is upside down; I rotated it, but the change won't show up for some reason.

Warning: Pic Heavy!

So, this was my first swap, and Chughes made it absolutely amazing. I would have waited forever for this package!

Here is a group shot:

It's freakin' fantabulous, no? Almost everything I received came from my wist or pinterest! And the things that weren't on my wist/pinterest? Well, they would've been on there had they existed prior to Chughes making them!

Let's look at everything close up!!!

Charlie's 'stache:

Charlie is like my favorite character, so Chughes made me a keychain with Charilie's mustache on it, and the beads say "Ladies Man" Haha I love it! I immediately put it on my keys...after I played around with it.

Hair Sticks:

I have an ever growing collection of hair sticks, and these are my new favorite pairs! Unfortunately, in shipping, the apple fell off of one of the sticks, but it's nothing a bit of hot glue won't fix! They are so beautiful, and I'll probably wear one of them everyday!!!

Charm Bracelet straight from Bella's wrist to mine:

I love that there are so many wolf charms! I am Team Switzerland, but I can't help collecting more Jacob inspired things because wolves are my favorite animal!!

The necklaces:

These are beautiful!!! The vampire "bitten" necklace is subtle and I think it's elegant! I've been wearing it ever since I opened the package! I love the idea of it! =D And, I was equally as excited to have received Alice's choker!!! It's so awesome, and I'm definitely going to wear it when I go see the movie! Everyone's gonna be so jealous. >D

Wolf Scarf:

I don't know how you knew I loved hoods and scarves, or if it was just a lucky guess, but I am totally in love with this scarf! <333 I am going to take it with me everywhere! =D

Thank you so so much for the package! It was so worth the wait, and I don't even know what to say anymore. Just...thank you a thousand times over!

5  Gryffindor Inspired Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by StaticMonster on: August 18, 2012 09:59:35 PM
Compared to all the great bags I've seen so far, my little drawstring bag seems very simple! Haha But I'm still so proud of it! Below, my very first ever bag is featured! It's also only the second thing I've ever sewn in my life! (I just learned how to thread my sewing machine. xD)

I'm sorry for the awful picture quality. It's rather dark here, and I had poor lighting. The bag is a beautiful red and the inside is yellow satin. This bag was made as a Christmas gift for my friend who's a total Gryffindork! I know it's early for Christmas, but I'm getting a head-start. There's much crafting to be done!

Also, you can't tell by the pictures, but the bag has a really pretty, subtle print on it; truly fit for anybody in the Gryffindor house!
