I've been playing with the melted beads like so many others and in my experiments, I came up with this. The windchime/suncatcher was inspired by another crafter, but the design was all mine.
To make shapes more crisp and angular (which is very hard to do with round beads I used metal cookie cutters to melt the beads in. I just put foil across the bottom and sort of molded it to the sides so it wouldn't let any melty bead goo to ooze out.
For something different I also smashed some colored beads with a hammer to get smaller pieces that I sprinkled on the top of the beads in the cutters.
Heat 500 degrees for 20 minutes. Let cool for about 20 minutes (or until the popping stops) then remove foil and spread gently at sides of cookie cutter to unmold finished shapes.
I sanded the edges to get them a little less sharp, with a Dremel and drilled holes in the tops of the shapes. I had an old Christmas cookie tin lid that I painted and drilled holes in and then I strung up the shapes to form the final product.
