So cute! I love their crazy hair!
I use various hair on hides-hide is sewn on inside so there is no falling out or wefting involved--- tibetan sheepskin being my favourite:) The spiky haired ones are fox fur unfix for garment industry--I strive to use useless things to make these-- garment leather scraps, unusable fur scraps

Such adorable cute monsters!  I love their eyeballs!
and snaps for eyes that were sold at a recycling centre here with no backs closures-- I have many fun colours but stick with black for the most part--

4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Leather Monsters week 75 on: January 20, 2014 04:46:06 AM
It has been a most fun year and some working away on these beasties for leathermonsters.com . Happily there has been some real progress on being able to get leather to do what I would like it to do, given it acts so differently from fabrics I've worked with in the past. The last picture shows some glass Ball joint doll eyes I will incredibly be incorporating into the wee art dolls. I hope to be share the first patterns from my earlier post very soon. Thanks for any feedback in advance.

5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Leather MOnsters--week 6 (ish) on: August 19, 2012 12:44:41 PM

Im liking the simple eyes versus larger ones-- Any opinions on these versus others in my gallery appreciated:)

The monster at the bottom of the post was the first one I did-- The pattern evolved into the top on ever the course of the dozen or so. After drafting the first pattern it was clear they were too skinny (see bottom monster)

Im much happier with how they are rounded and fat instead of the skinny tall ones to start-- Im not a natural pattern maker by any means-- and fattened it out after each monster.

Fabric and plush is stretchier so you can make them fat and cute even if it wasn't perfect-

The pattern now looks very fat-- So id say if you care going to make a leather stuffy really over do the size of everything to account for lack of stretch.-- same thing for teeth-- You can see the furry headed one has daggers while the red toothed one has the nice fat teeth-- I have liked the sewing of the flame style teeth and colouring them with the leather dye--

I originally wanted to make leather bears--not a google friendly search term by any stretch of the imagination-- Im very happy to be making something that hadn't been done yet (leather plush? leather stuffies) Leather monsters are my little buddies that are my afterwork pleasure---

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Rainbow Brite leggings on: August 08, 2012 10:53:39 AM
I fully appreciate the difficulty in linking up those stripes-- as well as the posing in front of a tripod-- these leggings are wonderful:)
